Edvarin he/him Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 While reading the Adolin/Maya thread, I had an idea about Dalinar. I know the Stormfather told Dalinar at the end of WoR that he would be a Radiant with no Shards, but I think the Stormfather will change his mind for two different reasons. 1. Dalinar sort of summoned enough of a Blade to operate the Oathgate in order to escape Jah Keved. The Stormfather was upset, but not overly so. Quote "I have to get away." I will not be a sword to you. We spoke of this. Dalinar growled. He felt something he could touch, something beyond places. The power that bound worlds together. His power. Wait, the Stormfather said. This is not right! Dalinar ignored him, reaching beyond and pulling power through. Something bright white manifested in his hand, and he rammed it into the keyhole. The Stormfather groaned, a sound like thunder. The power made the Oathgate work, regardless. Quote Hesitant, he reached out to the Stormfather, who rumbled distantly. "Still there, I see," Dalinar said, relieved. Where would I go? "I hurt you," Dalinar said. "When I activated the Oathgate. I was afraid you would leave me." This is the lot I have chosen. It is you or oblivion. 2. Dalinar almost summoned Shardplate in the dream with Venli. Quote Something flashed around his arm. Lines of light, a framework that covered his body. His fingers didn't bleed as they scraped the stone. 3. When they were speaking of the Heralds and again with the Recreance Radiants, the Stormfather noted that because of their new Bond, he was starting to understand more about humans. Quote Regardless, I...understand now as I never did before. The ancient Radiants didn't abandon their oaths out of pettiness. They tried to protect the world. I blame them for their weakness, their broken oaths. But I also understand. You have cursed me, human, with this capacity. So, now that I've established the possibility, let me take it another step up. I think since he is the first to Bond the Stormfather since he became a Splinter of the Almighty, he will have more powerful Shards and have more control of them. Maybe 2 Shardblades. Maybe multiple that he can control with his mind, telepathically slicing opponents from a distance. Shard Arrows! Shard Shields to defend someone he couldn't possibly get to in time. Just a few ideas I had. I think they are possible, perhaps even likely. Enjoy!
ghajan monk Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Dalinar has spoken the third Ideal so it is possible if the Stormfather changes his mind. I am more interested in why Dalinar has Oathbringer hanging on his wall. Now that we have Adolin starting to revive mayalaran could Dalinar revive oathbringer?
A Dopey Spren he/him Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) I feel that what Dainar summoned to activate the Oathgate wasn't a Shardblade, but lightening (described as being 'bright white' and 'his power') 'His power', meaning the Stormfather, could correlate with this idea, as lightening is a definite 'power' when it comes to storms. Regarding Oathbringer, Dalinar has a connection with that blade, as he had bonded with it for such a long period of time. He was told that, whilst the blade hates him, it is less than it hates everyone else (I think the Stormfathe said this). I think that at some point, Dalinar will figure out how to revive Shardblades as that may fall under his abilities as a Bondsmith. Just theoretical of course! Edited December 3, 2017 by A Dopey Spren

Imagine how cool it would be if Dalinar started throwing lightning left and right killing some voidbringers. Actually, it could be an Honor counterpart to the stormform red lightining.
