So, I'm still in part 2 of Oathbringer, but today I read something in a Shallan chapter that I found very interesting. She upholds an Illumination by "binding" it to a sphere in her pouch. That works for an extended amount of time.

And I find it kind of suspicious that pattern acts weird sometimes, saying that "this isn't the lie, Shallan, can't you tell?..." I'm thinking that maybe Shallan changed something about herself (I don't know, could be something small like, hair color...) and is upholding it since her childhood.

1. Could that work? Any opinions for/against it?

2. This is my first theory, please don't be mean. Haha ^_^

3. English is not my mother tongue, so if I wrote something weird, please just tell me!

The consensus seems to be that "Shallan" as we know her, the optimistic girl with the quick wit, is also a false persona, just like Veil and Radiant, and that she just hasn't let her true self out ever since her childhood.

Just to modify @Leyrann - I wouldn’t say she hasn’t let her true self out, but rather that she used the spiritual aspect of Transformation on herself. She transformed herself from being completely broken into being something functional - but the transformation isn’t complete and she still holds onto that broken little girl who was forced to kill her mother.
