zebobes Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Well, Brandon has repeatedly warned us that just because a character will be a future flashback doesn't mean that the character won't die before their book... and lo and behold, Eshonai appears to be dead in a ditch! What do you think Eshonai's flashback book will look like? I am uncertain what revelations can be discovered in her flashbacks: at the present time, her backstory appears to be fairly straight forward, especially since she had such a sheltered life before coming upon humans (or voidbringers...) for the first time. Could it be that Brandon was just throwing us for a loop, and the flashbacks are really from Venli's perspective? Also, who do you think will be the main character in Book 4, Eshonai or Szeth? From my perspective, It appears that Szeth is ready to step onto center stage, especially since he has sworn to follow Dalinar's leadership. While Venli's story appears to be fascinating, it seems to need a little more time to simmer in the background, so that the Listeners who escaped during the first Everstorm can come back into the picture during the next book, and take center stage in Book 5. 1
Leyrann Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I think that Eshonai's flashbacks will complement Venli's character development. Also remember that she's been an explorer all her life, so there's probably quite a bit to uncover there. Additionally, she's been one of the leaders of the listeners during the war on the Shattered Plains (what's that war actually called by the way?), so there probably happened quite a bit of stuff there as well.

welker Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 I hope that the next book will be Szeth's and that we will get to see him deal with the Shin people. If Dalinar lets him go I feel that seeing Szeth's past will make sense with the story.
