If you look verrry closely the speech bubble says "gosh I love arrows". And I guess it does say female on my profile, not that I think most people look at them?

Since we are all pretty much a clique here and talk about other stuff then Malazan to I ll cautiously knock on wood that it remains so reco that if y’all game and like RPGs and have a PS3/4 try Persona 5 which y’all can get at 40% off till the 19th on Store. It’s been amazing so far.

I'm really enjoying the prechapter poetry this 2nd time around in Toll the Hounds. Most specifically, the passages written by Fisher. And especially the one with Whiskey Jack finding himself as commander of the dead, next to Toc and Brukhalian. I was not able to identify Toc last time.

Theory: Iskaral Pust = Shadowthrone

Basis: Comments from Cotillion about whether or not Shadowthrone was really where he appears to be, made throughout the books. And it's made clear in Dancer's Lament that he can change his appearance to other than what he his. And finally, the Bhokorala worshippers of Pust mixed in with the Nachts and links to Shadowthrone.

Probably not true, but fun nonetheless.

That would make the relationship between Shadowthrone and Ardata an interesting one, to say nothing of the mule, lol.

It would also be an interesting perspective on how Shadowthrone and Cotillion planned for Icarium's role in the whole mess. Pust did try pretty hard to feed him to an Azath.

I'm trying to remember... I feel like they interacted at some point. I could be wrong, and that doesn't presuppose your theory.

And finished TCG last night. I forgot how nearly all the bigwigs ended up in the same place, and which people actually died, lol. That's a wrap for my second read through! On to Night Angel book 3.

Loved the ending to TCG! Really clever how he tied so much together and the cyclical ending. Compare the first paragraph in prologue of Gardens with last parapgraph of CG. The behavior of Mocks Vane is a metaphor for the state of the Malazan empire!

Meet the newest member of my household, Silchas Ruin:

Silchas Kitty is adorable!

You know you're a Malazan fan when you get a tan while your 2 fishing buddies burn, and your first thought is, "I've been annealed in the fires of Tellan!"

Lol, I suppose you also know it if your kitty is Silchas Ruin!

Speaking of names... I repainted my boat and got rid of the ugly "Bass Turd" name the previous owner had painted on the back. Still looking for a new name. I'm thinking something Malazan. Anyone have any good boat names? I'm already floating (haha) around 'Ragstopper' 'Froth Wolf' 'Twisted' and 'Silanda'

Silchas had a brother that was black, but he got adopted before I found them, so it's just Silchas Ruin and my ten year old kitty, Bobo.

Update: Silchas is very anti-bath time. His swords are indeed sharp.

And @AngelEy3, what about the Dhenrabi?

So in church they were going over the story of Saul and David in the Old Testament. The teacher mentioned something to the effect of how Saul's star was descending and David's was ascending. My first thought immediately went to this scene in Memories of Ice:

The truth of this has burst like fire in my heart. On this, our last day, I have met this unnamed man, this servant of Treach, the Tiger of Summer . . . Treach ascending.
And Fener? The brutal boar whose savage cunning rides my soul – what of my lord?
Fener . . . descending. On this, our last day.

It's a small moment in the book, but I feel it is incredibly powerful.

I feel like you can relate anything to Malazan ha!

If you are into Audible they are having a July 4th sale (that ends on the 8th) where they have Willful Child and Stonewielder for $5.95 each; other than those two, the only other audiobook that caught my attention was Best Served Cold. They also have Prime Day Gold membership for $4.99 for three months.

Can I have a question? Is Kurald Galain warren or hold? because sometimes they reffer to it as Warren of Darkness but then they say that it is Elder and Elder means Holds, right?

Posted

@Yvainnie If I've got it correct, then Kurald Galain is an Elder Warren. But it could (and I think is) known as the Hold of Darkness from the standpoint of the tiles and Letherii.

To further clarify (although the previous comment is correct):

"Warren" could refer to either the physical other-world that could be travelled to and to the form of magic which could be shaped by someone who could channel a Warren.

Structurally these Warrens were divided into two classes, the Elder Warrens, which were associated with a particular race, and the Paths, which were those Warrens most commonly accessed by humans and which were derived from K'rul's blood. Although not all realms described as Warrens fit that description,

In addition to all this correct information, according to the mythos of Forge of Darkness and Fall of Light, Kurald Galain was/is more like a separate world in and of itself, older than both Emorlan and Liosan, that was abandoned by the Tiste Andii after Mother Dark flew the coop. The Tiste "came to the realm of the K'chain Che'malle" (the primary Malazan world), some lead by Silchas Ruin and Scabandari, and others by Anomander... I think? Some of that history escapes me. Its status as both Hold of Darkness and a Warren kind of came to be during that mess.

If I'm not remembering something right, please correct me.

Hah you might be the 17th shard expert on all things Kharkanus most of the common posters on this thread havn't read them and I have only read Forge once and skimmed Fall of Light (I plan on giving it all another chance if Walk in Shadow is ever released).

@Yvainnie Lol, most of that information actually comes from the main book series. I assumed if you were talking Holds you had read the parts of

Spoiler

Memories of Ice and Midnight Tides

where it's discussed, forgive me if I erred. FoD and FoL don't get quite address everything you learn in Malazan itself; gotta wait for the last book.

No need to apologise ;) I am currently reading Bonehunters so yes I have read MoI and MT
I thought that part about Mother Dark was from trilogy but you are right it was mentioned in Midnight Tides but even if it were not I really dont mind spoilers because they just get me excited more for that book :)
