BrendenShouse he/him
I'm an aspiring writer of sci-fi fantasy and i was wanting to know if it would be possible to create a multiverse with wildly different worlds and magic systems that work on all the different planets/dimensions. If anyone is interested i can explain everything i have developed this far. I would really appreciate input on this, I'm a huge Sanderfan and i don't know if I've strayed to close to the Cosmere with this. Thanks in advance!!

BrendenShouse he/him
7 different dimensions, they are all basically going to a different version of the world but they are wildly different. One world is a sand covered wasteland where people live on and in large rock pillars that cover sections of the planets. Another dimension people don't venture out at night because of the massive spiders. Wool is what the rich wear because everyone turns the fields of spiderwebs into cloth. In the universe there will be at least one culture that has developed advanced tech and will participate in the events taking place at the end of the universe. All of these worlds will be separated and unable to travel between the worlds until I write the one about the magic system that lets people open portals. At that point it will develop into a complex politically charged war for dominance over the other dimensions while others fight to simply survive. As both sides are about to break from this century long war the Choledaka return, the Choledaka are the creators of the Multiverse and they are coming back to take what they created. The only reason the multiverse can possibly survive is because of a little girl who goes to magic school realizes that she's one of the Choledaka who's trapped in a human body, she is powerful enough to keep the other two Choledaka from destroying everything but the worlds fight the new hordes of enemies created by the Choledaka to destroy everything humanities protector is trying to save

Shadowmancer he/him
I think Sanderson himself has said that all writing is essentially thievery. Hoid talks about it at the end of WoK. I myself had a Cosmere-esque plan in motion years before I learned of Sanderson's, but that hasn't put me off of my writing plan. Just keep developing, keep writing. Be aware of the similarities you have to other works out there and keep yours as unique as possible while trying to make it as YOU as possible, too. If that wasn't confusing, or tl;dr, just know that there is always room for new ideas and we welcome and support any aspiring authors!

I've had some clever 'cosmereish' ideas for stories myself, but I don't have the focus for anything other than short fiction at the moment. The only nitpick I have is that spiders (and other insects) make silk, wool is from animal hair. Edit: I just misunderstood what you meant. Like others said, don't worry too much about being 'too close' to the cosmere, as many cosmere stories are just strange takes on old themes already. It's just how writing works. Thank you I appreciate it what i meant was that that specific world the poor people are the ones wearing silk and the rich are the ones wearing wool or flax. I kinda wanted to have that world be a kind of nightmarish forest with an empire run my the magic users of the world.
