SC-Gizmo Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Hello, I am sure many other people are like me and eagerly watching the progress bar of pretty much every work Sanderson lists. The current one states the 4th and 5th drafts of Oathbringer. Does anyone know what Sanderson looks for specifically in each draft? Or Sanderson, if you are reading this, could you explain what the plan is for each draft of the book? 1

Then hands it over to his team for continuity/realmatic checks and they comb through that as draft two and hand peices over to him. He simultaneously writes draft three, pairing down and expanding where needed. Repeat for drafts four and five(where they are now), then a final proof read.
Fedcomic he/him Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Do you have the Writing Excuses anthology book? He talks a bit about his process there.

Calderis gave a pretty good summary, so I won't repeat him, but I'd add that if you're very interested in his process he's got a lot of really good videos on YouTube of him teaching writing classes. He goes into a TON of detail on his methods, process, and how he approaches the craft. I'd highly recommend it.
SC-Gizmo Posted June 26, 2017 Author Posted June 26, 2017 Thanks everyone! I've watched a lot of his YouTube videos and listened to many episodes of Writing Excuses, so I am very familiar with BA. Was just curious about the specifics of the editing process, and I think Calderis was very helpful, as was everyone else.
