I've recently gotten back into playing Yu-gi-oh after binge-watching Littlekuriboh's abridged series, and thought it would be fun to assign decks/archetypes to some of the various characters in the Stormlight Archive (I tried doing this with Game of Thrones, but freaked out after giving the White Walkers Ice Barrier decks).  Except for trains.  No character is worthy of having trains.

Anyways, I'll start with a couple:

Taravangian: After a bit of thinking, I've decided that Taravangian should play monarchs (with their new support, and the domain version).  First, Taravangian is seeking to become the ruler of everything, suiting the name and playstyle (locking your opponents out of their extra deck) very well.  In addition, the 2 boss monsters of the deck are Erebus and Aether, which suits Taravangian's intelligence swings really well if we subscribe to the popular "dumb Taravangian is more compassionate than smart Taravangian" theory.  Also, Taravangian not using an extra deck (due to the domain lock) is important because it reflects how his small kingdom has less material resources than other kingdoms.

Sadeas: This scumbag's playing nurse or chain burn, thank god he's been banished to the shadow realm :P

But when he doesn't, he's probably using lawnmowing infernoids.  This deck revolves around having 60 cards and using Lawnmowing Next Door to dumb the top of the deck into the graveyard, which compliments the infernoids very well and reflects how Sadeas was willing to sacrifice thousands of bridgemen as arrow fodder.

Anyways, I'll stop at those two, I just wanted to have some laughs as we wait for Oathbringer to come out.  Any other Yu-gi-oh fans out there?

I used to play. Been a while, but I saw a set with Noble knights that seemed to fit Dalinar. It had special swords in it as well that would be like Adolin/Dalinar giving all those shards to their high ranking officers.

I laughed when I thought you said "dual" monsters instead of "duel."  If say Roshar is filled with dual monsters, since most of the life there exists in a symbiosis between creatures and spren!

Lol, you're right on the money.  Noble Knights for Dalinar it is!

I'd imagine that Szeth would get some sort of rock deck due to Shin culture, so that would probably be Triamids for him.

Ok. On a similar subject, what if the character were made into duel monsters?

For instance...

Name: Kaladin Storm Blessed

Level: 4

Atribute: Light

Type: Warrior

Attack: 1900

Defense: 1200

Effect: If this creature attacks another creature that is in defense position, and the attack of this card is higher than the defense of the targeted creature, inflict damage to that creature's owner equal to the difference in power levels. If one of your other creatures is selected as an attack target, you may switch the attack target to this creature. If you don't, and the attack target is destroyed, this creature looses 200 Attack.

He's a spear man so he should have piercing damage and he has to protect. If he isn't protecting others, his bond weakens and he looses power...

Now we just need a Syl card and a Ritual card that specifically needs these two to summon a ritual version  where he is in his radiant form...

Name: Jasnah Kholin

Level: 3

Atribute: Fire

Type: Spellcaster

Attack: 900

Defence: 2000

Effect: If this card is targeted by a spell, trap, or monster effect, you may remove it from play. While this card is removed from play, you may pay 2000 life points to special summon it to the field. During your main phase you may pay 1000 life points and discard one card. Look at the top three cards of your deck and add one too your hand. Shuffle your deck afterwards.

Jasnah is pretty pretty strait forward. She has her world hopper ability that lets her avoid danger. And she can always return, if she's willing to burn some storm light, or in this case some life points. Jasnah is able to soul cast as well. I didn't want her to be completely broken, so in order to soul cast she has to pay storm light/life points. She has to give up something in order to soul cast it so you have to discard a card. And letting her search your deck for anything is just too much, so I figured her fake soulcaster had 3 stones so look at 3 cards and choose 1.

Name: Lift the Awsome

Level: 10

Atribute: Earth

Type: Awesome Incarnate

Attack :1000

Defence: 1100

Effect: You can special summon this creature without sacrificing. If you do, you can not normal summon this turn. This creature may attack your opponent's Life Points directly. If you do, switch it to defense until next turn. If another creature dies, equip it to Lift the Awsome if possible. Lift gains 100 attack for each level of each creature attached to her.

I had to make Lift 10! Lol. Ok. I thought that a good way to represent Lift would be to allow her to "slip" past your opponents deffences. However, she tends to be a little unsteady when using her awesomeness, so I thought that switching her to defense would be sorta like her slipping and falling. There are other things that could be done for her, but I wanted her to remember those who had been forgotten. With each creature that is lost, her bond with them allows her to grow stronger.

@DarkJester

Lol, I appreciate the effort, but we should talk about those effects.  With how the meta's evolved, we're going to need to get some more powerful effects.

Think Special Summoning conditions, extra deck, bouncing/self-bouncing, banishing, removal, effect negation, searching, etc.  I'm busy for now, but we can talk later to really make Radiants Tier 0 :P

Yeah I quit around the time tuners came out...

Lol some of the stuff they do now is crazy.  You've got crazy synchro decks that can bust out triple quasar dragons, and one scumbag variant that pulled off the most savage play in yugioh history: summon triple quasar dragon turn 1, get rid of your opponent's entire hand during their turn, then draw into exodia on your next draw.

Plus you have elemental heroes aka DankLaw.dek, which can put a Traptrix Rafflesia, Dank Law, and Toadally Awesome (yes, that's the TCG name, and it steals your opponent's cards) out turn 1.  Then there's Zoodiac Beasts aka Molmorat.dek which are tier 0 at this point and can pull off a 1-card Sophia or Tierra play (not the best version by any means, but that search power is ridiculous).  And by 1 card, I don't mean you need that card in your hand, I mean you can start out with ONLY that card in your hand and pull the play off.

And those two decks are just the meta.  I haven't even gotten into the otk pwnage that cyber dragons can pull off, the new Eidolon archetype (which is just INSANE), pkfire, D/D/D's, and so on.

Holly crap... I made a catapult turtle deck that could kill the opponent before they even had a turn. After that I said the heck with it and started playing MTG

Lol, here's a bit of video evidence:

1-card Sophia/Tierra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzSxTv-FVTI

Triple Quasar + No Hand + Exodia (I don't like Slaydra, but this is the only place with the replay): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhmeX48qFWo
