I bought my copy of Words of Radiance used at a bookstore in Alabama on a family trip in the summer of 2015. It was a little beaten up and had a ink splatter on the top of it I wasn't sure I wanted to buy a used copy because I like how pretty new books are. I ultimately decided to go ahead and buy the used copy so I could buy a couple of Doctor Who novels as well. It read just like a new copy and it was great. Fast forward to this month and my second read through of it I noticed something I hadn't before. On page 937 of the hardcover version is a description of Shallan's copy of Words of Radiance. It says "The sides were worn, and the pages faded---one patch across the top was even stained from spilled ink sometime in the past." So my question is in buying a copy that had an ink blot on the top did I stumble upon a hilarious coincidence or does every copy of Words of Radiance have an ink blot on the top?

So... At first I found this hilarious, and went to check on my own copy of WoR, just because. Now I'm spooked beyond words... (Picture below)

Mine was also bought used. If I was hard pressed I would say this is specifically the reason they are marked as used, as spilled ink is likely a common occurrence in a printing press. That being said, the book description matching up... This is a scary coincidence

Don't worry, yours is on the bottom, so it's okay. :P

Tariniel, that looks like a remainder mark: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=36419 It's not uncommon. You shouldn't worry about that.

Without a picture from the OP I can't say, but the black marks like that are remainder marks.

I know, but the resemblance to the description in the book is uncanny lol

That's fantastic. Although mine is located at the top of the book it does look eerily similar to Tariniel's picture. So I assume that mine is also a remainder mark. Thanks for the education Chaos! I love learning new tidbits of industry information like this.
