Is it a forgone conclusions that Michael Whelan will be doing book series cover. And will he be doing a interior cover like he did for book 2 with Shallan. One of the coolest things about the SA books ate thaey have so many an unique cool things about them the interior art of book 1 he who covers a book to the possibility of the dust cover having a large map on the inside of it for book 3 is such a cool idea. All this add work truly makes each book morce then just a novel it makes them pieces of Art in my humble opinion.

He did this for Alcatraz, as well, and it looked great! Can't wait to see if he'll end up doing it for the SA series as well :)

As for Michael Whelan being the artist, I wouldn't say it's a forgone conclusion, but the chances are very, very good. Barring some sort of company or personal issue i would assume that he would be the artist for the Oathbringer cover.

I remember Sanderson saying that if the map on the dust cover worked well for Alcatraz they would be doing it for SA 3. The cover has to been done by Whelan everything about the SA book are top notch so they need to keep the cover artis the same to continue the high quality.

I wonder is that means there won't be a map inside the book itself. In Alcatraz's case, there was never a map to begin with, so... If it does take the place of the inner map, what do you think they will substitute it with?

Hopefully more art by Michael Whelan. Or some really in-depth drawings by Shallan. The more art the better for me, I would love to see what the oathgates look like. Or alot more sets of Shardplate. I could go on forever saying what I would like to see. I love these book and the characters in them it would be really cool to see a group painting of Dalinar, Kaladin, Shallan  and Adolin. I am having a artist do a commission of ether Kaladin or Adolin send the money out tomorrow. What would you like to see in place of the map inside the book

I would like to see Adolin above all and then Dalinar and/or Renarin. We have little visual and reference for the Kholins while we do have them for Shallan and Kaladin. The art inside the book is done by Ben McSweeney. I know he's drawn Adolin a few times, but I don't know if any of those sketches will make their way into the book. There is also the fact Brandon doesn't want to present too many explicit art of his characters: he prefers leaving the readers picture them as per their personal preferences.

I expect more Shardplate sketches, Shallan's Blade (I think Brandon said somewhere he'd put it in), Honorblade drawings and drawings of Urithiru and its fauna.

I'm looking forward to some more insight on the Heralds and their appearances, though I don't think Brandon is ready to reveal those just yet (Maybe Shalash or Nalan, though?). However, I don't think there is anything he can put in there that I will actually dislike. Shallan's Blade seems an awesome candidate, as are the Honorblades and Urithiru's fauna. Have I mentioned that I absolutely can't wait for this book?!?

Love reading your responses. I think we need to see Urithiru  (God how do you pronounce that word). I was dead set on having the next piece the artist is doing for me to be Adolin  but after finishing my reread of WOR I really want to see  Kaladin all stormlight powered up coming from the sky to fight Szeth.

If you listen to Brandon's podcast, then you can get the exact pronunciation, but agree it is a tedious one. I also think there is a slight chance one of the inside pictures might be Adolin's new fashion do... Now we know he will intentionally slip out of his dusty old boring uniform (Brandon wouldn't say if it was without or without Dalinar's approval, I personally think it is without), I expect to see a visual on it. We might not see his face, but I certainly hope to see the outfit. After talking so boldly of his fashion sense, it'd be good to see if Adolin can actually bring it on. I so love rebellious Adolin refusing to obey the codes anymore

As for your art, well you are the one commissioning it, so you get to ask what you wish to see the most, but I'd say there is a lot of very good Kaladin art out there, with him bursting out of stormlight and everything while there is very little potable Adolin art, but your call ;)

Not sure why, but I haven't read the Wheel of Time yet. People keep telling me about it and I'm just like, yah, I'll get to it. Really have to actually get started lol

O man it's such a amazing book series. I started it about 16 years ago when I was 15 had a hard time at first had to  restart the 1st like 2or 3 time but once I really got into i could not put them down.

You really do have to read them. I stumbled upon them, and Mat Cauthon became ones of my absolute favorite characters in any series Ive ever read. Ive never read a series that has so successfully made me hate some characters (Nynaeve, Elaine and Egwene to be blunt about it) to making me absolutely love andm. Just start em. You wont regret it. If you can, start with New Spring. If not its ok lol, you dont need to.

But to the topic at hand, really any and all art given to us in Book 3 will make me excited. Would be cool to see Urithiru, or the oathgates like they said above. Or hell, even just a sketch of Bridge 4 around their evening fire eating stew would get me salivating.

Art work that I would love to see in book 3

1. Dalinar with his two sons.

2. Alot more of the shardplate sets and shardblades.

3. Syl shardspear  and Patterns shardblade.

4. Oathgates and Urithiru exterior and rooms.

5. Stormform, warform

I know we will not get all of them but the art in Way of Kings was amazing and then Words of Radince just out did  the first book with its interior sketching . minus the cover WOK cover was better then WOR in my opinion.  When I first saw the sets of Shardplate the only thing I could say was YES! I know we will get many more amazing new sketches within the pages of books three and a cover will be amazing but God damnation why do we have to wait so long hahah.

See, I couldn't stand Mat, but Perrin and Rand I loved (I know, I know).  Fun to see how much personality they bring with them.

Perrin is the man. I could read another 14 book all about him and the Two Rivers.  Well maybe not 14 hahah but would love to read about Perrin and his lady Faile

@maxal Sorry I have the the artists doing a Kaladin I really felt bad hahah seeing how much you like Adolin. But definitely going to have him do Adolin next. My goal to have him do  Adolin then Shallan and  then Parshendi warform. Just not a huge fan of Sezth who else you think I should have them do mind you it's going to take months because I need to save the money up for each individual one

See Perrin I found to be pretty boring. Still loved him, just in comparison to Mat and Rand I didnt really look forward to his chapters until he really started going into the wolf dreams and dealing with Slayer(?). I completely hated Nynaeve and Egwene. But then I started realizing youre supposed to be annoyed with them, with their whole "Men are stupid and we're geniuses" attitude. But my favorite chapters are definitely the ones that are about or feature Mat.

Mat really is the best- all the way through.

I really disliked Rand during his sulky period.

Of the three boys, Perrin was my favorite: he had honor and he tried very hard to protect everyone. The scene where he sends his army to support Galad's whitecloaks despite them wanting him dead gave me the goosebumps and so did the rescue of the Two Rivers. I started liking Rand, but I ended up hating him through the middle books, only to like him again in the later books when he becomes self-assuming. I was never a fan of Mat: he was too much of a scoundrel for my personal tastes and the story with Tuon didn't interest me. I liked him as the Prince of Ravens towards the end though.
