Adamantame he/him Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) This is probably a crazy theory, but I was having a discussion with my friend WoK and he brought up a interesting theory that I shall steal from him because he has not account on the 17th Shard. On the back of WoK it says: "The world can change. Surgebinding and Shardwielding can return; the magics of ancient days can become ours again." Notice how it says ShardWIELDING not ShardBEARING. So, does this mean that people could again be the hosts of the Shards (Cultivation, Honor, etc) again? I am not sure about this but didn't the Shard of Honor splinter himself into the Shardplates and Shardblades? So, what if the splinters combine again into the Shard. Seeing how I am horrible at explaining myself, I hope you guys get it. So... Any continuing thoughts? Edited January 24, 2014 by Adamantame
The Rooster he/him Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) I think the difference its the Nahel bond. Wielding means glowing armor and KR-hood. Bearing its what people do now with blades and plate. I like it tho. There's allot of power that used to be honor. Its somewhere and potentially re collecting. Edited January 24, 2014 by AG Rooster
el_warko he/him Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I am a little disappointed, I read shard welding and briefly had visions of voltron/mech like shard creations. Stupid brain. 4
bartbug he/him Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Could be that they are not utilizing the shards to their full potential right now, merely baring them, instead of wielding them. I dunno.
Quiver he/him Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Honestly, I wouldn't put much stock in that line. Rooster has a good point, that shardwielding might mean the glowing Plate and the Nahel Bond, as opposed to people currently being referred to as shardBEARERS. But when I read that, I just took it as Brandon saying shardwielding so it matched up with surgebinding; a single word connotating the lost art. Of course, the Nahel Bond is the lost art when it comes to Shardblades/Plate, so maybe there is some relevance to that after all. The blurb of Way of Kings seems to set up the entire ten book saga, the same way the prologue does, so I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see the reformed Knight Radiants referred to as shardwielders... And Warko, you and me both. 1
