bdoble97
If you Google image Dalinar, Adolin and Kaladin you will see the first two in there Shardplate or uniforms and then Kaladin just in his uniform or when he was a slave. But what do the normal light eyes soldiers wear into battle do they were full sets of armor like soldiers of Gondor from Lord of the Rings or just chest plates and Helms like you see in the historical paintings of British Army fighting France. How about the dark eyes spare men. I picture them in full armour like the solders of Gondor. But whould love to see what people think.
Spoolofwhool
Here's an excerpt from Way of Kings on the matter, from Cett's PoV, 5 years after Szeth assassinates Gavilar. Quote Neat, organized. Shortspears in the front ranks, longspears and javelins next, archers at the sides. The darkeyed spearmen wore equipment like Cenn's: leather jerkin and knee-length skirt with a simple steel cap and a matching breastplate. Many of the lighteyes had full suits of armor. They sat astride horses, their honor guards clustering around them with breastplates that gleamed burgundy and deep forest green. Were there Shardbearers among them? Brightlord Amaram wasn't a Shardbearer. Were any of his men? What if Cenn had to fight one? Ordinary men didn't kill Shardbearers. It had happened so infrequently that each occurrence was now legendary. As it says, the darkeyes footsoldiers mainly wear leather armor with steel caps and breastplates while lighteyes wear full armor. Footsoldiers also carry large shields, slung over the back when not in use. I believe the leather armor for the lower body is like a kilt/skirt, as it was observed that Kaladin wore trousers underneath his leathers, which isn't allowed apparently. Thank you so now I am picturing a mix between the Roman Legions and soldiers from Braveheart the Scottish ones wearing kilts that paints a better picture for me I'm a very visual person if he can't tell from my other posts
If.you.die.I.go.stupid
I know WoB put the officer uniforms as sort of french, just after Napoleon. I don't know what era, if any, he had in mind for armor. Lighteyes of low rank often become archers. I don't recall a description of their uniforms, but I wouldn't expect anything more than leather armor for archers.
