Aryanath Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Do we know anything about Dalinar and Gavilar's parents? Especially their father, who must have been the Highprince of Kholinar before them. It seems a bit odd that the guy is never mentioned. Either he must have had some impact on his highly talented children or the absence of his influence was a factor in their actions. Can anyone shed some light on this? 2

The only information we have about him is he suffered disillusions as he got old, thinking he is back at the war. Dalinar also mentions how he was never brought up to be Highprince. At 19, he was already leading an army, slaughtering people and claiming he had never been young. So I'd say, absent father, most probably.
Aryanath Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 That makes sense. I wonder if it'll be important at all later on, or something not terribly relevant to the plot.
