Wychmire he/him Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 (edited) I'm planning on changing to Linux From Windows 7 and I'm trying to figure out what Distro to use. I'm considering Linux Mint because of how it looks and feels. (I tried it out on a friend's Virtual Machine) And Linux Lite because I have a old computer that wasn't meant for much but office work and is now 5 or so years old. Any recommendations? Mestiv he/him Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Xubuntu - it has a quite light-weight user interface and all the might of Ubuntu software repositories! It's my distribution of choice at work and it's just great, very reliable.
Wychmire he/him Posted July 20, 2016 Author Posted July 20, 2016 (edited) Alright. I'll check it out. Thanks! edit: I think I'm settling on Manjaro. Does anyone have any opinions on it? Edited August 1, 2016 by Wychmire
mfhscoobydoo he/him Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Manjaro is great but for people less experienced with Linux in general, it's a bit overcomplicated. Here is a link to a thread on Linux distros,
mattig89ch he/him Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Ubuntu with the SUSE ui is my go-to choice for distros. Ubuntu is great, stable, and has alot of software for it. And SUSE (I think thats the UI name) is very powerful compared to gnome.
