Guest Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I must ask, why you consider other orders of KN ruled out, like for example: stonewards or willshapers? I suspect that you base your statment on WoB, although I am not aware of any that would exclude them. I mean, the Edgedancers are the least matching order for Adolin in my opinion, and if it wasnt for his shardsword I wouldnt have ever considered this idea. Several reasons. The first one is both Stonewards and Willshapers are Honor-aligned orders which makes them more likely to refuse him on the fact he murdered Sadeas. The second one is both Stonewards and Willshapers do not currently have a main character to champion them. The SA structure wants it Adolin cannot join an order we haven't been introduced to through its main character. Since both of these orders aren't getting explore until some time in the future, Adolin can't join their ranks until them. It makes it more implausible. The third one is Adolin is, I believe, unsuitable for both orders. Edgedancers are the best matching order for Adolin, but it requires to challenge the perception we have of him based on how other characters view him (lack of POV time). It is incredibly easy to take Adolin for what he appears to be: a soldier while forgetting all the times where he explained how he never wanted to. People initially think Adolin would befit a warrior-like order because he is a good fighter and he is impulsive, but they forget his driving force has absolutely nothing to do with armed deeds or soldering. Adolin acts because he cares for people, not because he believes in the "last stand" or because he is an "eccentric traveler". He loves his family and this love guides him through his decision making in the same way as Kaladin's protection instinct guide him towards his own. Kaladin would never choose not to protect those who needs it, but Adolin would never let people be bullied or leave those needing help go wanting. He is the boy-scout of SA: always ready, always there to help and not wanting it to be any other way.
