Hi! This is my first post/theory on this forum, I hope I'm in the correct category. Below is the epigraph from Chapter 57 of WoK, a death rattle:

I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw.

I am by no means a proper cosmere-ologist (?), but I have an idea about this one: what if the "breath to draw" mentioned is actually BioChromatic Breath? With the magic systems starting to interact more in Brandon's books (e.g. Hoid and Vasher who are on Roshar right now have Breaths) it would be a cool hidden meaning of the term. It doesn't seem to make much sense though with that interpretation, if I recall correctly Breaths are simply lost when the bearer dies without Commanding a transfer. Unless there is an unknown way to transfer Breaths through say sacrifice, like the PoV seems to be doing in the Death Rattle?

Just some food for thought. Do you guys think there's some connection or is the phrasing used in the quote just a coincidence? I look forward to learning more about SA and the Cosmere here!  ^_^

I really don't think it's referencing Breath, myself, but with Vasher and Nightblood on the planet, I guess it can't be 100% ruled out.

I think the Breath refered to is symbolic of being alive. It's a pretty common bit of literary and religious symbolism.

Since there Are nalthians on Roshar, we should keep an eye out for similar references.
