Master Elodin Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Just a small thought: could the Ire be the Iriali? Seems like they have the same intentions somewhat, and they are both highly cosmerically aware. 1
King's Twit he/him Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 What are the Iriali's intentions? Also, are they Cosmere-aware? Am I missing something? I feel like you may have used the wrong name, but it is possible that there is some large chunk of Stormlight Archive that I've forgotten.
Master Elodin Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 The Iriali are definitely cosmere aware, as they know about the existence of Yolen and shardworlds. This is shown in their quote "This is the fourth land. When we are at the seventh land all will be made whole again." Or something along those lines.
Haelbarde he/him Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Ym, from one of the WoR interludes talks about the irali. He talked about how they are all part of one thing seeking experiences, or some such thing.
Botanica she/her Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 It is well-grounded to suspect that the Iriali are nomadic people who travel between various Shardworlds, and Roshar is the fourth planet they have been on.
DocHoliday he/him Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 7 planets? There are/were 16 shards.I think you guys are stretching a bit to make the assumption that Iri mythology is Cosmere aware at this point.
Yata he/him Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 7 planets? There are/were 16 shards.I think you guys are stretching a bit to make the assumption that Iri mythology is Cosmere aware at this point. They haven't to know all of this 7 worlds, they may have a prophecy about this cosmic pilgrimage in their religion without knowing anything more than what they themself experienced (also if problably at least their anchestor made multiple worldhop as stages of this pilgrimage). Who or what is the origin of their knowledge/prophecy is a mistery indeed
Jondesu he/him Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 7 planets? There are/were 16 shards.I think you guys are stretching a bit to make the assumption that Iri mythology is Cosmere aware at this point. I don't see that as necessarily saying there are 7 planets, just that when they get to "the 7th land" (world/planet we think it probably refers to), they'll be home. Kinda like we talk about being on the "3rd rock from the sun" but not because there are only 3. I also don't buy that they're particularly Cosmere aware, though, at least not currently (their predecessors may have been, but the Iriali now probably don't know much if anything about that, just the prophecies like Yata is suggesting). jW
