Missedborn.

Kelsier landed heavily on a rooftop, he groaned as his ankle twisted sideways. He'd flared pewter a little to early an it ran out before he landed. He took a vial from his belt and drank the contents, feeling the touch of pewter settle the pain in his ankle.

He flicked a coin onto the roof top and Steelpushed high into the air. In a series of controlled pushes, he bobbed gently and flared his bronze, seeking out any activity. There! He flared Tin and saw a dark figure on a distant rooftop through the mists. "No, not this far away from Kredik Shaw!" The figure's eyes flashed almost imperceptibly in the dim light. Flat and metallic. The figure began running in his direction, then soared high into the air. Kelsier broke into a cold sweat, and dropped himself back down onto the roof top. Moments later, a coin whizzed passed where his head had been. He hopped down into the alley beside the building, and ran.

Taking corners at a speed only pewter could prepare him for, he darted in a random pattern of turns, almost running sideways as he planted his feet against walls to redirect his weight. He could hear the pounding of the Steel Inquisitor landing on rooftops nearby. He looked up toward the noise, misplacing a foot and sticking it straight through a window. The glass shattered loudly, and he landed heavily on the windowsill, one leg stuck inside the building, and the other hanging down against the cold stone of the building. He reached out to a blue line which connected to the wheel of a wagon opposite him in the alley, he felt his leg start to budge. He was almost free, then a spoke flew out of the wheel with a steely ring and hit him hard in the chest, pushing him through the window.

He heard the loud clop of the Inquisitor's boots coming closer from outside the window. He pulled out an obsisdian dagger from its sheath and looked around the room. A family of Skaa sat petrified in a corner of the room. He stood and put a finger to his lips, indicating that they should be quiet. An older man raised a shaking hand, pointing through the window behind Kelsier. A steel eyed figure bore an unseeing glare into Kelsier's back. He risked a quick burst of Atium, and saw a tiny shadow streak through him. He ducked quickly, watching a whistling coin slam into the wall opposite him, sending chips of stone in a shower all over the skaa family. Though terrified, the man quickly scooped up the coin and placed it in his pocket. The skaa's tattered cloak tore as Kelsier Ironpulled the boxing into his hand, and quickly pushed it upwards at where the Inquisitor should be. He heard a cry of alarm and stumbling feet as the Inquisitor dodged.

Kelsier took up the spoke that had knocked him down and launched himself into the window frame. He leaped fiercly at the Inquisitor with a triumphant cry and a powerful overhead swing. The inquisitor lifted a hand and pushed hard on the spoke - but Kelsier had expected that and let the spoke slip up and away from his grip, allowing him to land a pewter fuelled punch into the Inquisitor's face. Kelsier stepped back and levelled his dagger at the Inquisitor, he was still grinning about it when the spoke hit him in the head.

Not to be bested, the Inquisitor Ironpulled the spoke into his hand, then sent it coarsing straight towards Kelsier. In barely enough time, Kelsier pushed back, the force between them slamming both men into oppsite walls of the alley. Kelsier threw down a coin and pushed hard, releasing his hold on the spoke. He shot into the air and pushed a coin down towards the Inquisitor for good measure. Then he was running again, his cloak flailing about him in shreds from the broken window.

Moments later, the Inquistor landed louldy on the rooftop and gave chase. He hurled the spoke towards Kelier with a mighty push. Kelsier spun, stepping on a tassle and tripping over, the spoke whizzing passed him. He heard the Inquisitor cursing. The momentum from his run sent him tumbling off the roof and he landed heavily, only pewter prevented him from being winded. He rolled over quickly to see the Inquisitor bearing down on him, the mists repelled by the Inquisitor lent an eerie omen to the its actions. Kelsier grabbed a blue line to his side a pulled the ring of a barrel towards him. The barrel being full, yanked Kelsier out of the way, an axe blade shattering on the cobbles beneath the Inquistor.

Kelsier jumped to his feet. Using up pewter to increase his strength, he lifted the barrel over his head, and poured wine all over himself as he hurled the thing at the Inquisitor. The monster rolled himself out of the way leaving the barrel to smash against an opposite wall. Kelsier threw a coin into a nearby doorway and readied a Steelpush. He stepped out as he pushed hard, his foot slipped on the wine soaked ground. He fell as he pushed, lowering his centre of gravity and sending him tumbling and scraping down the alleyway, tearing his cloak well beyond respectable wearablilty. He reached the end of the alley with a thump against a house which stood at the top of a T-section of streets. He sat up and caught his breath, and noticed metal hook on the wall which he had barely missed. His pewter was running low, he let it settle into a slow burn, and flared his tin to look down the alley. The Inquisitor was nowehere to be seen, and that was much worse than seeing it at all.

Feint blue lines appeared and thickened rapidly to one side, several coins came at him leaving him no time to consider direction. He pushed them and they skewed upwards, falling to chink down gently several streets away. Kelsier felt his steel run low. "I need to end this fast!" He thought to himself. He extinguished his copper.

Kelsier jogged across the open alley way, deflecting a number of coins as he moved. He made it to the cover of the corner of the alley which he had come from, and stripped down to his underwear. "Oh I hear you, scum!" The Inquisitor menaced. Kelsier peeked around the corner and then hunkered down in a shadow. "Lord Ruler, I hope this works!" He thought.

Tin burning brightly, Kelsier heard the Inquisitor close in on his position. He began to burn Atium. A moment later, the Inquisitor's future shadow ghosted its way around the corner. Kelsier timed his attack, and flaring the last of his pewter, he stood and threw a shoe hard at the Inquistor, it hit the freak in the face, Tin enhanced senses shocking him with the enhanced odour. Kelsier immediately tackled the Inquistor and hugged it tightly around the waist, then flared his iron, pulling them both against the wall of the house at the end of the alley. Kelsier felt organs protest as his face sunk into the Inquisitor's stomach. The impact of the pull dazed Kelsier, and he fell to the ground.

He looked up to the see the Inquisitor jerking and spasming on the hook which jutted out through the Inquisitor's chest, a spike hanging out of it but for a sinewy thread holding it in place. "Let me get that for you." He said conversationally to the Inquisitor, and yanked out the spike. The Inquisitor fell limp, hanging sickly from the hook.

Kelsier rummaged through the Inquisitor's clothing, despairing to find no vials of extra metals. "I really don't feel like walking..." He looked down at the spike in his hand.

Dox looked over to the sound of the workshop's secret door flinging open. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped, as he saw Kelsier striding in, obviously pleased with himself and licking the strangest looking lollipop he had ever seen.

That's really fun. :D I never really thought that you could muck up killing an Inquisitor, but Kelsier once again proves me wrong.  I'm sure that if I were suddenly, randomly mistborn, I'd probably be tripping all over my mistcloak if I could find one. It would be a disaster!

Thanks for that!
