el_warko he/him
The topic of Szeths free will got me thinking. He is honoring his commitment / paying for his crimes by performing this function, as much as he loathes it. Which then begs the question, if this is a job / function required by the Shin, as abhorrent as they feel it is, why do they need it/him? Thoughts? Could the Shin be acting in a balancing manner, i.e. there has been too long between desolations and Szeths true function is to speed the process up by setting loose a very effective killer? I am not suggesting that the Shin are Voidbringers or minions of Odium more like neutrals.
DocHoliday he/him
The Shin don't need Szeth as was made clear in the Interlude. The Shin trader says something like: He was worthless, may we never have another like him, but if we do I will gladly give him to you. Seems to me they never wanted him, to begin with and another occurring in their life time was unlikely. Setting that aside WoB states that Szeth is viewed as having betrayed his people in a very fundamental way. Hardly something the Shin would encourage.
