Hello everyone, its been awhile sense i was on here. I previously posted a theory about Adolisium being a council of people with shards that "shattered" when they came to a disagreement or something (I now think that that's probably not the case).

Anyway i need help with something. In the second book "words of radiance" there is a passage where Shallan and Jasnah are on a ship, and Shallan names the dress that Jasnah is wearing as a "Traditional Alethie Dress" and that the crew thought that the dress was prudish, even though it hugged her figure very well. I need the know what the name of that dress was (and page number), for a collage paper i'm writing about gender roles on Roshar.

If someone could help me find it i would be forever in thier debt.

Thanks again!

It's called a 'havah', and both Shallan and Jasnah wear it.

Page 38 (in the paperback version), Chapter 1

"Like Shallan, Jasnah wore the havah, a Vorin dress of distinctive design. The hemline was down at her feet and the neckline almost at her chin. Some of the Thaylens - when they thought she wasn't listening - referred to the clothing as prudish. Shallan disagreed; the havah wasn't prudish, but elegant. Indeed, the silk hugged the body, particularly through the bust - and the way the sailors gawked at Jasnah indicated they didn't find the garment unflattering."

Cemci you are a freaking god (or maybe just a shard... the shard of finding? or hidden things... how about revelation?) Thank you so much! This was literally the last piece to my puzzle.

Seriously thank you.

Its a Communications class where we have to analyze a piece of media. My teacher cleared the way of kings/ storm-light archive, and I've been on a quest ever sense!

I think it's when he talks to Shallan at the fair or whatever it is, in the one flashback. I don't have my book on me right now, but I'll dig around for it.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, it may actually be when he's talking to Kaladin, possibly when he was in prison. The Tor.com reread hasn't quite made it there yet, but based upon where they are right now, I guess that it's somewhere around chapter 64 or so.

Ah! You're quite right. And, fortunately, though I have no book to leaf through, I was able to find it in the Tor reread. It's in chapter 55, and they even quoted the relevant section:

“All people are musicians,” Wit countered. “The question is whether or not they share their songs. As for music being feminine, it’s interesting that the woman who wrote that treatise—the one you all practically worship in Alethkar—decided that all of the feminine tasks involve sitting around having fun while all the masculine ones involve finding someone to stick a spear in you. Telling, eh?”

That actually sounds awesome. I've been curious ever since the first post.
