Emperor Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 So, hey all... I suppose I have now condemned myself to sitting on the internet 24/7 by joining this, but I'm sure that it'll be worth it. At least you have cookies. So, yeah, I'm new, and I just wanted to let you know that there's another Sanderson fan on the forum hype train now! Thanks :') 7
Elbereth she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard! And while we have cookies, that doesn't mean you should eat them... Which books have you read? 3
Emperor Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard! And while we have cookies, that doesn't mean you should eat them... Which books have you read? Thanks, I'll remember the cookie tip... From Brandon, I've so far read: The Original Mistborn Trilogy Stormlight (The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance) Warbreaker Elantris Steelheart/Firefight The Emperor's Soul I think that covers it, anyway. Any other recommendations for other pieces of his work, and just anything in general? I'm sort of lacking inspiration for my own writing at the current time, so I'm trying to fill that hole with reading everything. 3
tobar14 he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 You could read the Wax and Wayne mistborn novels, Sixth of Dusk, and Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell. I am into patrick rothfuss right now, the Dune series, the golden compass, always The Wheel of Time. 2
Elbereth she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Mistborn Era 2 is important, particularly if you want to discuss Cosmere stuff. Also, the Rithmatist and the Alcatraz books are totally worth a read, even if they are written for kids. The Legion novellas are also pretty good. For his short stories: Sixth of the Dusk and Shadows for Silence have already been mentioned. I'll add Perfect State, Defending Elysium, and Firstborn, which are all non-Cosmere, but still good, and the last two are available online for free. There's also The Hope of Elantris, which is a short story to go with Elantris, and also available online. So there's a few more, but nothing major except arguably Mistborn Era 2. There's a thread around with a list of works by other authors kind of similar to Brandon's work, which I can link to if you want. 1
skaa he/him Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Hello and welcome to the forums, Your Sticky Imperial Majesty! You know, I hear there are great opportunities for a distinguished monarch such as yourself in the exciting new field of Spark Transformation. Would you be interested in becoming fire? 2
Emperor Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Hello and welcome to the forums, Your Sticky Imperial Majesty! You know, I hear there are great opportunities for a distinguished monarch such as yourself in the exciting new field of Spark Transformation. Would you be interested in becoming fire? I am a stick. But, indeed, I could see myself being Transformed into fire should you need it, skaa. A great, distinguished stick monarch tends to his subject's needs... especially Shallan. So, yes, light me up! :') 3

Amrynn he/him Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Greetings! While you shouldn't eat the cookies, eat the bookies as you see fit. They're a Knights Awkward specialty that infuses normal, book-shaped cookies with flavors of characters. I'd recommend a Lift bookie because they taste like pure awesomeness (they tend to be a favorite), but I have a Stick one as well. 2
WayneSpren he/him Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 My cookies are hemalurgy-free, infused with the finest Stormlight. Only the best for my fellow Sharders! 1
