Raykoda Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 According to Shai, the Cognitive realm is made up of thoughts between objects. It is made up of what things think about themselves, and what other things think of it. T His folds nicely into the idea of Spren., We know that they are creatures mostly of the Cognitive realm, and they are idea-fications of natural phenomena and emotions. But what if a man became so powerful, so imprinted on other people minds that he became an idea, as well as a man? You get Kelsier. Who, as we know, did become a cognitive shadow after he died. that's good and all, but what about the Stomfather? he is already known a Spren, but what is he the Spren of? I have to theories. Jezrien pros: -makes sense that Vorinism would conflate them cons: -might not have actually died Honor pros -actually did die -a citation that gives a dead link on the coppermind article cons can't think of any The only problem with this theory is that it doesn't account for shades. oh shucks! Discuss. 4
Yata he/him Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) I am not sure if you read word of radiance therefore: The Stormfather tell about himself "I am his (Honor) Spren". Therefore is quite clear of who he is the cognitive shadow Edited October 8, 2015 by Yata 1
Ari he/him Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Yeah WoR outright says he is Honour's cognitive shadow. Whether that means he is the shadow of the power itself, or of Tanavast, seems up for debate of course, but he's not the shadow of Jezrien, as according to Word of Brandon he was alive as of tWoK, and we presumably haven't seen him die since then. 1
TwelfthOfSnackTime he/him Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) I guess the only thing left to say now is, What kind of powers would Kelsier grant if he were to go to Roshar and form a Nahel bond with some young impressionable Anarchist? Edit: This isn't actually a serious theory on my part just a fun exercise Edited October 8, 2015 by TwelfthOfSnackTime

Edit: This isn't actually a serious theory on my part just a fun exercise That depends on the nature of what sort of Spren Kelsier's cognitive shadow would be, if he hasn't moved on. Engaging in speculation, I would say he'd actually make whoever he bonded with into a Bondsmith.
Yata he/him Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) mmm I'm not sure if a "Standard" Cognitive Shadows take with itself enaugh Investiture (It probably have less investiture than a flamespren). The Honor's Splinters had an well above the average Investiture and I could easy accept that one of them became it's Cognitive Shadow. But for a Human's Shadow I find hard that it can bond with someone. Edited October 9, 2015 by Yata

Hmmm, I wonder if Kelsier would be that powerful of a spren because he held preservation for that short period of time. 1
Oudeis he/him Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I cannot be the only person who read the title a la "SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!"

That was exactly what I was thinking. Well, that and he is the Survivor on Scadrial. Kelsier is probably a Godspren in his own right, if that's the correct classification for the Stormfather.
