Mistborn Character Brainstorming Thread!

Are you interested in joining the Mistborn RPG, but aren't sure where to start? Perhaps you're new to the world of forum RPing and don't know how to write a character (or perhaps you're scared you'll mess up), or maybe you're a more advanced RPer but you just aren't sure how your potential characters would fit in with current events. No matter your experience (or lack thereof), this thread is for you.

First you'll need to check out the rules of the Mistborn RPG (you can find a link to the site in my signature), and it would be a good idea to at least skim through the character template in order to familiarize yourself with what sort of information you'll be asked to provide.

When you're ready to start, go ahead and post here! You could have any number of ideas for your character ("I want to create a nobleman with no Allomantic powers," "I want to join the rebellion," etc) or you could simply post that you want to create a character. Either way, I - and anyone else who wants to join in on the brainstorming - will try and help you come up with a character you'll enjoy writing, and the rest of us will enjoy RPing with.

Let the brainstorming begin!

I have this idea for a pair of characters.  One is a half skaa iron misting, he was raised as a noble until the Inquistors found out that he and his siblings were half skaa.  They were used as subjects of the Inquisitors' Hemalurgical experiments.  He was implanted with spikes charged with his family members as a prototype super soldier, also as a test to see how familial relations affect the process.  Iron spikes from his father and twin brother, a tin spike from his mother and a steel spike from his sister, a steel misting.  He escapes and flees to the Terris Dominance for refuge.  He's now come to Luthadel to exact his revenge.

I'm wondering if this allowed.  The Inquisitors had a laboratory in their HQ in the books, so I'm assuming that means experiments.  And what better place to get subjects than from disgraced nobility?

My second character is a Terriswoman.  She was a Breeder until my other character, in league with a group of Terrisman rebels, raided the place.  The raid went south, but she was rescued.  She's come with my other character to Luthadel to help him with his revenge, but also to try and find the children she bore but has never seen.  She's a Feruchemist but isn't aware of it.  She keeps a brass locket with her at all times.  She sometimes unconsciously stores heat in it and draws it when she starts to feel emotionally numb.

Again, is this ok?  I'm looking to have a character with a good amount of backstory, but not overbearingly so.  I'm trying to come up with some good conflict for these two, but especially the girl.  The two are in their late teens, but their trials have obviously matured them.  I'm also looking for a name for the girl.

Thoughts, 17th Shard?

Wow, I fail at seeing threads before the characters get posted. I apologize, Silus; when this post went up I had a lot going on, and things are just starting to settle down.

You and Eric have already finished brainstorming Coron's story, but for the sake of other potential members reading this, I'll answer your question again. The RPG operates under the assumption that the Lord Ruler already knows what he's doing with Hemalurgy, since he's already ruled for 900 years, and thus probably wouldn't be experimenting with it. But then, you and I know that someone else in the RPG might be... ;)

A word of warning to any potential members interesting in using Hemalurgy for a character: if your character is spiked, but is not either a full Inquisitor or a Kandra (or a Koloss, but why would anyone want to play one of those? :P) you will have a lot harder of a time getting approved, because we require a lot more backstory and justification before allowing it. Your best bet is to talk to one (or both) of us beforehand to put together a character we're all happy with.

Syndall, the Terriswoman, is a really interesting character to me. And you future members out there, we definitely need more Terris characters in the RP. Anyways, I'm wondering if you have a plan for her to learn about her Feruchemy and be trained in its use, perhaps eventually becoming a Keeper. I would assume you at least want her to learn how to use her abilities, since you made her a Feruchemist in the first place, but yeah. Perhaps we can work out some cool RPs there.

I actually have this really cool dynamic in mind between two concerning her Feruchemy.  As a result of his Hemalurgy, he sometimes has these cold flashes (more psychological than anything) and the one metalmind she actually has is a brass chain necklace with a small gold bead on the end.  She instinctively taps brass when she's cold, and I'm thinking that that'll come together with his cold flashes as a sort of comfort thing.  It's a little strange but it's all warm and fuzzy in my mind.

Well, yeah. It was just a thought, as I've been debating making a Keeper for the rebellion. Because I don't have a thousand other characters I've already committed to writing, lol.

Anyone else care to join us? Toss out an idea!
