Argent he/him Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) I am sure this will become common knowledge soon enough (if it wasn't already), but Graphic Audio will be doing one of their cinematic audio books for Mistborn. The Final Empire is coming out on December 1, this year. Warbreaker's three parts were released within a month of each other, but Mistborn is roughly thrice as long, as we'll have to wait and see when WoA and HoA will show up... For what it's worth, I've even got a Twitter reply from Peter confirming this. I don't know about you, but I am thrilled*. * I should've waited to make that joke for when (if?) Graphic Audio makes their version of the Way of Kings... Edited October 8, 2013 by Argent 1
Mysty she/her Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Really? That's cool! I stumbled across the Graphic Audio copy of Warbreaker in my local Library and enjoyed it. It took me a bit of listening to start enjoying it, as i'm accustom to tradtitional audiobooks. At first I found the audible sighs, footsteps, and chatter of crowds distracting, but the longer i listened the more I was drawn into the story and the more I enjoyed the cinmatic feel. I'll have to watch out for it and compare with Michael Kramer's narration in the standard audiobook.
Argent he/him Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 Having listened to Graphic Audio, I can no longer make myself listen to regular audiobooks... But Warbreaker did take a little getting used to. Irish accent (think it was Irish?) was not at all what I had imagined, though it's not illogical.
Argent he/him Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 For those interested in this: all three parts of the audiobook are now out, and two of them even sport some snazzy "cover" art. Mistborn: The Final Empire (1/3) Mistborn: The Final Empire (2/3) (snazzy Inquisitor / Marsh?) Mistborn: The Final Empire (3/3) (snazzy Kelsier) Time to make with the buying! 1
lostn Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I would prefer a combination of audiobook and graphic audio. I don't want the text modified in any way. I don't want any words to be cut like with GA. But I do like that all the characters have different voice actors, and the sound effects/music. One narrator cannot delineate by all that much, and certainly not enough for every character. I also felt Michael Kramer was a bit monotonous and unexciting. The GA samples on their website sounded very good, but they cut words (I was reading the text at the same time as listening to it, in order to compare). There is much to like about GA, but I'm not willing to give up an unmodified text.
Argent he/him Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 A bit of an update with some release dates. Mistborn: The Well of Ascension (1/3) comes out on August 1, 2014. No art yet. If they do a cycle similar to The Final Empire, we should expected parts 2 and 3 a month apart, so September 1 and October 1. Certainly excited about all this.
Argent he/him Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Oookay, only one or two more updates, and I can let this thread die The Hero of Ages (1/3) came out on January 1, 2015. Get you some Spook on the CD art. Parts 2/3 and 3/3 come out on February 2 and April 1 respectively. 1
Blaze1616 he/him Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I'm waiting for them to finish so I can get them for my dad. He loved listening to radio programs as a kid, so I think it would be really cool to get him these.
Wrath Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 The first GraphicAudio production I listened to was Elantris. The opening made a real impression on me. Especially the bit that goes "Eternity ended ten years ago."
