Joe ST he/him Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Well yeah, since you've started promoting articles and things, is there any way we can get a feed of 'things that appear on the front page'? I couldn't find one, the only 4 I found were too IP.Content one which were empty, the 'blogs' feed, and the Calendar. Thanks Joe
Chaos he/him Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Hmmm. That's really bizarre how it's not already there. I'm sure I can do it (because Dragonmount does, and their on IPB as well), but it'll take a bit of time.
KChan she/her Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 We just need to play around with the RSS controls. Wherever they are; honestly, I've been so busy with the design end of it that I haven't looked around for things like RSS at all, and the Invision Power Suite ACP can be a little... strange, sometimes, in where it puts the options. Like putting the settings for friendly URLs under "Search Engine Optimization" instead of the category that actually mentions URLs.
Chaos he/him Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Yeah there might exist some RSS options we haven't noticed yet.
Joe ST he/him Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 thanks for considering it , good luck
Silus - Shard of Flame he/him Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 (edited) That would be excellent. It always catches me by surprise when we have a News Story. EDIT: Ooh, could we make it so we can have a feed for different topics? That would be awesome for Nexus. Edited March 20, 2011 by Silus - Shard of Flame
Chaos he/him Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) Turns out this was stupidly easy. Apparently, the default setting was "Let's not give them an RSS feed!" Now there is one, right next to the Latest News header. Or the feed is right here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/rss/ccs/1-17th%20Shard/ EDIT: The link to this feed may change when I get Feedburner set up, but there will be very obvious buttons when I do. Joe ST he/him Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 hmm, well the Vericon Report is not in that feed.
Chaos he/him Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I'm not sure why the Vericon report didn't appear, but Save Vin did, so the feed DOES work. Something weird happened to Vericon, unfortunately.
KChan she/her Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Save Vin go up after the RSS? Or if it didn't, wasn't it the current article when that was enabled? If that's the case, it could just be that the RSS feed doesn't pull news posts retroactively.
