Guest Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 What is the best reading order for the novels of the Enderverse, by OSC?
WayneSpren he/him Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Ender's Game Ender's Shadow (If you want prequels here) Shadow of the Hegemon Speaker of the Dead Edited August 31, 2015 by WayneSpren
Mailliw73 he/him Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Ender's Game Ender In ExileEnder's Shadow Shadow Series Speaker of the Dead series That's how I did it at least.
Left he/him Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Basically read Ender's game and then Ender's shadow, and then either pick the Ender or Bean storyline and continue it to the end, than go back and pick up on the other series. The Bean books had a more consistent tone and style that I enjoyed, while the Ender books got very deep and were slower. Ender In Exile isn't necessary to read, although it can be nice. 1
Ookla the Absent Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Honestly, I hated the "Speaker for the Dead" storyline, it kind of dragged and I didn't really enjoy the tone. I liked the Bean books, though. 1
Mckeedee123 he/him Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Actually, I would suggest reading Ender in Exile after the Shadow Series. One of the biggest things Exile does to differentiate itself from the epilogue of Ender's Game is to wrap up one of the subplots created by Shadow of the Giant.
Guest Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Thanks for all the feedback! I finished Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, and am currently reading the next sequel.
