BlckAlchmst Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Hello Everyone! I'm new here. Obviously. I started reading Brandon Sanderson's works after finishing the Wheel of Time and then wondering what I was going to do with my life now that it was over. So I decided "Why not start reading the books of the guy good enough to finish the Wheel of Time!?". I am more than glad that I did. I was in for a pleasant surprise when I picked up Mistborn: The Final Empire. I've been hooked on his Cosmere works ever since. I finished the Emperor's Soul this morning and am going to start reading Warbreaker tonight. I'm pretty sure my favorites are Alloy of Law and The Way of Kings. 1
Windrunner he/him Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 *cough*Way of Kings is better*cough* Just kidding, it's great to have you here! Is Warbreaker the last cosmere book you have to read? 2
BlckAlchmst Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Yes it is! I'm excited to see the system of Investiture used in Warbreaker. And I'd almost agree with you on Way of Kings being better if it wasn't for the fact that Alloy of Law made me laugh so much. That's why they're tied in my mind. Alloy of Law for the humor (Wayne mostly) and Way of Kings for... well pretty much everything else.
Gamma Fiend he/him Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Welcome! I'm pretty new here myself, and came here of pretty much the same circumstances, and I gotta say, these guys are pretty alright.I gotta say, Alloy of Law was pretty damnation hilarious, I do agree. But the way Sanderson writes, I'm always laughing every few pages. He just writes some funny chull people.
Windrunner he/him Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 That's very true. I'm hoping we'll see a recovery to some of Kal's wit now that he's finally managed to save some people. It's tough to beat the Wax/Wayne dynamic though. If you've listened or read any of the Shadows of Self (Alloy sequel) we've gotten, Wayne is even funnier so far. He has a bit of a bias against butlers now...
Gamma Fiend he/him Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) I could only imagine why. I definitely need to give those a listen/read.Edit: Is that another one of those 'email Brandon Sanderson for' or is it on here? Edited August 26, 2013 by Gamma Fiend
Windrunner he/him Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Oh no, it's right here. Brandon's not yet done with it. The only things Brandon emails are some early unpublished works. 2
BlckAlchmst Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 So Brandon Sanderson will email some of his unpublished works!? Which ones?? And for how much?
Gamma Fiend he/him Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 No charge! (I'm pretty sure) I've just asked on here and someone mentioned just email him. And Im not too sure which ones. I know White Sand is one of them. But not too sure about the others.
Windrunner he/him Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 White Sand, Aether of Night I think, Mistborn Prime, Final Empire Prime. Mythwalker (kinda like Warbreaker) is posted on his site. He will not send anyone Dragonsteel.
