tomgeek Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Hi! I'm relatively new to Brandon Sanderson's work and I've finished devouring the first 3 Mistborns (which I adored beyond belief) and am currently reading Elantris. I was intending to pick up Alloy of Law tomorrow but then figured why not ask the best order to read in for the cosmere? I've also read The Rithmastist as a stand alone (though I understand it's getting a sequel at some point and is not part of the cosmere?) while I waited impatiently for my bookstore to order in Well of Ascention (particularly frustrating as they had Hero of Ages). Anyhow, I'd love suggestions (and hopefully I haven't started out at the completely wrong end), even though tomorrow I'm likely to pick up a huge haul and burn through them pretty quickly 5
Esaias he/him Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) Welcome! It doesn't make much difference what order you read the books in, though you may want to save Stormlight for last as there are several cool easter egg sort of things in them. The Rithmatist is not part of the Cosmere. Edited August 7, 2015 by gwslow
Mestiv he/him Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Welcome to the forums I'll suggest you read Warbreaker before you start Stormlight Archive, that for sure. Also, I'd recommend, if it's available to you, to read the Alcatraz series. It is not cosmere, but if it fits your sense of humor, then you're going to have a blast, and really, don't pay attention to labels saying it's a book for kids Just like Harry Potter, Alcatraz is for everyone

I'll put Warbreaker down as the next series to start after Alloy of Law and Elantris.. Aha, I'll take a look into his other works once I've gotten the Cosmere books down I think =) I was told the same about the Rithmatist (thats it's a young adult series) but if it's entertaining enough it doesn't matter

One of the most popular forum topics is The Reckoners RPG. The Reckoners is a three-part series written by Brandon (of course). Two are out as of now. READ IT IF YOU WANT INFINITE UPVOTES ON THIS FORUM. I would also advice not to accept cookies-if you want to remain unspiked.
Zathoth Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Like the others said. Read Warbreaker before Stormlight, but the order isnt really that important. Anyway, welcome.
