bluedeath33
Was reading brandons Reddit earlier on today and noticed this post made by him in answer to a question. The question isn't important. What is important is what was said. "1) He wanted it for more than just getting Shai in prison. 2) For her people, there is a relationship. But watch for mentions of the God Beyond in the books. There is more here. 3) Sel's magics are much more regionalized than Scadrial's. Each area has its own manifestation, but they're all actually the same magic. So really there is one magic on Sel--much as Windrunning and Lightweaving on Roshar are kind of different magics, but also kind of the same." In number 3 Brandon talks about different places magics, he mentions how Sel's different magics are all actually the same magic and then uses Roshar as another example stating the same applies there like Windrunning and Lightweaving. Meaning that Lightweaving is native to Roshar not Yolen as people have theorized just because Hoid can use it. All the info on the coppermind wiki about lightweaving was as follows: Lightweaving is a magic system originating on Yolen[Citation needed]. It has been featured on Roshar and is an illusion magic.[Citation needed] Lightweavers were an order of Knights Radiant.[1] And looking at this it kind of makes sense considering the only information that doesn't need citation is that the lightweavers were an order knights radiant and considering all the different orders of the knights radiant possed magic native to Roshar why would they have another worlds magic. Phantom Monstrosity
Brandon has stated it's an example of parallel evolution.
