The characters you wished were your favorite...

Just a small topic of discussion based on the favorite characters one. Is there a character you wish were your favorite, but isn't because "reasons"? 

 

Personally, I feel for liking a lesser character which will never become predominant. I wondered if others were feeling the same.. I get strangely annoyed to find out other currently lesser characters will become major in future books, but never MY favorite.

 

So it hurts.

 

I wished Kaladin was my favorite character. Not that I dislike him, but he is not the one I root the most for.

I wish that Lift was my favorite character, but she does have the moral fiber to be at that standard quite yet.

I wish Kaladin was my favorite character because:

 

1) He has had the most character development so far. I would therefore be thrilled to root for such a complex, well exploited character.

 

2) He has played a major role in the first two books and I would be confident he would keep on playing a major role in the future books. I would never be afraid his importance would diminish.

 

3) I would be ecstatic as he has inherited of some of the best story plots so far: he is the under-dog, he is the true hero that slays the bad guy, he is the savior, he is the quasi reincarnation of Honor and he has one of the coolest spren which was alive before the Recreance.

 

4) Since Kaladin is the most popular character, I would feel I could bond with more people. 

 

I wish Shallan was my favorite because:

 

1) She started ordinary in WoK, but grew immensely in WoR. She is the second most develop character and is likely to keep on playing a major role in future books.

 

2) I would be confident any love story would involve her and whatever SHE chooses, she will not end up being the sore loser.

 

3) She is smart and has inherited of several cool plot arcs as well, so I would be happy about it.

 

I also wish Renarin was my favorite character because:

 

1) Alright, I would be severely depressed about him not getting any POV in WoR, but I would rejoice over him becoming a Radiant. Moreover, I would be ecstatic over the fact Brandon has confirmed he would play a major role in the series, he would have a flashback books and we would se more of him starting next book. So I would be reasonably confident his important would only grow for now on.

 

2) I would feel I would bond with more people as he is a beloved character in the fandom. I would feel I was rooting for the right character to root for.

 

I sometimes wish Dalinar was my favorite because:

 

1) Sure I would be terrify he would die in the first arc, but I would know it won't happen before he gets an amazing flashback book. I would also be confident that whatever happens in the next books, as long as he is alive, he would be an integral part of it and never a side player.

 

I can even wish Lift was my favorite because:

 

1) She may get an awesome novella dedicated to her and only her.

 

2) She will become one of the main character some day so I would be confident to read more about her in the later books. I would know SA would always feature her and not as a side character.

 

In any advent, I wish my favorite character was ANYBODY else than who it is.
