Red Ferring he/him Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 An atium misting during Alloy of Law. the poor ignorant fool
yurisses Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Atium mistings probably don't exist in the Alloy of Law era: Q: If atium isn’t a regular metal then why are there atium mistings?B: They were designed and created specifically to do what they did. Remember this is-- Preservation and Ruin were able to influence the world and rewrite people’s spiritual DNA. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/5177-worldbuilders-streamed-writing/page-2#entry89033 Brandon SandersonI asked to confirm whether after Sazed's ascension if there were any more atium or malatium Mistings. He said "there are no more, in that way..." and I said "In that way, huh?" and he gave me an ominous look.(source)
Red Ferring he/him Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) Concerning the 2nd quote from above, I think Brandon's answer and "ominous look" are implying that Atium has resumed its post as a god metal with much greater repercussions than "see into the future briefly". Before, it was Preservation's involvement that integrated Atium into Allomancy and gave it a simple (albeit extremely useful) allomantic power. Now that the plan to stop Ruin was fulfilled, I bet Harmony placed Atium's effect on people back where it was, something akin but opposite in nature to Lerasium. And since anyone can burn Lerasium and be a "Lerasium Misting" I bet that's what he means by them not being in the world in the same way anymore. Edited June 4, 2015 by Red Ferring
Red Ferring he/him Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Perhaps it grants instinctual knowledge of Hemalurgy? That seems logical as an opposite to Lerasium's granting Allomancy, but it doesn't seem grand enough imo. My own hunch is that it does something pertaining to Ruin's nature but not Hemalurgy in the way we've seen.
yurisses Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Perhaps the Allomantic effect is the Atium shadows, and the side-effect is the enhanced combat abilities. Edited June 5, 2015 by yurisses
