SirShemmington VI Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Is the healing provided by drawing on gold specific? Such as, you consciously choose what to heal, or is it just everything heals faster?
FlashWrogan he/him Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Everything has been written seems to indicate that everything heals at once. The one POV from Miles in Alloy of Law is the major POV we get of gold ferring (we get some from Sazed, but I don't remember anything helpful from him). He talks about not needing to breath because he heals so much that his need for O2 is just healed away. I don't think that is something he would have specifically chosen, but a side effect from healing in general so much.
Voidus Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I doubt it, unless they could store different types of health in different like with tin.
Abevan Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 On a somewhat related but also rather silly note, how does the regrowth and hair (and nails etc) work? If it's regrown with the other healing, Miles should be constantly producing hair at a rather fast rate. If not, he should be partially or completely bald, due to the times it's blown/burnt off. I can't remember any specific reference, but it seems like it grows to a certain point and then stops, which doesn't really make sense unless healing specific areas is possible.
Windrunner he/him Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 This is due to the nature of Feruchemical healing and one's Cognitive aspect. It repairs your body to the state you see yourself (and possibly how others seeyou) as being. So if you lost your arm many years before you found out you were a Bloodmaker, and got used to not having an arm, when you tapped health that arm would not grow back. It's the same reason Sazed can't heal himself from being a eunuch, it's become a part of his identity. Miles' hair and nails will return to the length that he sees himself as having. 3
