I created this account a while back, and have been lurking on the site on and off, but I've recently decided to jump in and start participating. I've read nearly all of Brandon's works (not the one for the iPhone video game, since I can't play the game). Brandon is my favorite author, though I am ashamed to say that I had never heard of him before he was chosen to complete the Wheel of Time. My first response was "Oh, great, some guy I've never heard of is going to finish the story that has been such an important part of my life since I was a teenager... no way this ends well." So, just to see how bad things were going to be, I got my hands on a copy of Elantris (it took some work- none of my local bookstores were carrying it at the time). It was Hrathen, more than anything else, that convinced me that this Brandon Sanderson fellow was worthy of completing Robert Jordan's work, and was someone whose works I wanted to read in his own right. I maintain that to this day- Brandon's characterization of Hrathen, his internal conflict, his growth, his struggle and strength, rank among the finest character writing I have ever read. I read Final Empire next, and my impressions were confirmed. Now, I read everything I can get my hands on. I check Brandon's website daily to see if he has any updates. I met him at his Alloy of Law signing in Lexington, KY, and look forward to meeting him again at his A Memory of Light signing in Dayton, OH next week. Well, I guess that's enough fanboy gushing.
