Yeah. If there's only going to be a new SA book every 1.5 years or so, then I expect them to be just as long as the first.

Couldn't have sait it better.

I couldn't have "sait" it better either ;). Anyway, I really do hope to see length as long as the first, even if some people are all "It's too long *rage*".

Both of you, I don't know where he said it but, in the context of saying because the Stormlight Archive would be so long WoK would have to both outline the series and be an enjoyable story of its own, that it would likely be the longest one. Its not certain, but very likely SA2 will be at least a little shorter.

Really, cause everything that has come down the facebook side of things looks like he is really struggling to not makethe "book of endless pages" working title incredibly ironic.

Yeah, he said he'd probably end up changing the title since evrybody laughs when they see the enormous size of the book and compare it to the title :P

Unfortunately, not only would it be an *awesome* title, it makes us long for what could have been.

Thats just what I heard, maybe he said something else later on.

And if by some Godly power of chance, Zenith, that we both get the book at the same time, then would you accept? :D

For sure.

...Provided I don't have school or another obligation then; perhaps a Saturday?

BTW, during my WoK re-read, I noticed that Shallan's memories are capitol M. They're special. Plus, putting it on the page erases it from her mind. I doubt it's normal.

Worth noting is that something like this also happens very early in Mistborn: Vin, who doesn't yet know about her Allomancy, refers to her ability as "her Luck". Again, capitalized.

All the magic systems are trying to immitate something. Shallan's Memories seem to be another world's attempt at whatever the Coppermind was modeled after.

I noticed in WoA Elend said the same as Lirin said about being the one to start acting with honour. There are a few other examples I could quote too.

And about the capital lettering, I think the 'Memories' is a significant one but I think Vin would naturally place her 'Luck' apart from the normal stuff that makes you lucky, thus the capital letter.

EDIT: And Zenith, its the same for me and school. Plus, I live in Britain so theres normally some sort of space between the release dates of the two countries <_<

Brandon: I'm more nervous than normal. It has been my baby for a long time, and I got Tor to invest so much into it, what with the cover, the interior art, the end pages, the really nice printing, and the sheer length of it. Tor would really rather not publish books of this length. The rest of the series will be shorter; I promised that to them. I do want to warn readers that the 400,000 word length is not going to be the standard for the series. They're probably going to be more like 300,000 words, which is what this one should have been, but I just couldn't get it down. It was right for the book for it to be this length.

~750 pages is still pretty decent size. I listen to the audio and The Way of Kings was around 32 to 40 hours. That is pretty decent time. I don't mind if it was 24 to 32 hours. I normally listen for 8 hours a day (while I work) and maybe a little bit after since I'll want to finish it as quickly as possible. Spending 3 or 4 days verses 5 or 6 days.

Well, the longer the book, the harder it is to remember details. There is much I don't remember of Kaladin's army life, simply because of the length and the amount going on in the present and flashbacks. I should read the book, but holy cow balls, it would take 2 weeks to knock that book out with the amount of time I have for manual reading.

I kind of figured that other books might be shorter simply because he doesn't have as much worldbuilding to do this time. Plus, I noticed he had some pacing issues in TWoK.

Speaking of baby, that baby he's having is going to severely cut down on his writing time. :(

Well, technically, since it is his job as an author to bow to our every whim, the baby obviously has to come second. :)

I'm currently re-reading Hero of Ages, and I remembered this post because I just finished the chapter where Spook was escaping from the burning house. He was describing how the world felt dull without tin, and one example was colors losing their crisp edge. That specific remark made me think of Warbreaker and the prominence of gaining/losing colors.

So maybe Tin is related to Breaths somehow, in the Cosmerian future. I don't know.

Tin does make colors more vivid, so I'd imagine turning it off would be like losing your breath, though on a lesser scale.

Mhm. Tin's heightened sense of awareness could correlate into one of a Breath's heightened phases. Been a while since I've read Warbreaker so I don't exactly know what I'm talking about here.

But from the Q&A, I expect most the worlds/magic systems to converge eventually. Guess we'll find out then.

The reason the magic systems are similar is probably because that, while the shard's intents differ, they all ultimately came from Adonalsium in the first place. They're bound to accomplish things similarly.

They all based humans, and likely plant/animal life, off of wht they remembered from Yolen. I find it likely that the magic systems are doing something similar, though probably not on purpose.
