TheBrian Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I have been wondering if a requirement to resurrect a Shardblade if you are not its original bonded knight would be having the matching Shardplate. If the plate has part of the spiritweb of the spren that created the blade, then someone possessing a matched set and living by the right ideals may be able to bootstrap a bond with the dead spren in order to revive it. Which makes me wonder if the style of Adolin's plate matches that of his blade.

Dalinar saw one nearly identical in on of his vision, it was glowing red and the knight who wore it used Abraison. True, it could have been an Edgedancer, but the fact it glowed red indicate Dustbringer. So Adolin may not have a matching set after all (I have assumed a long time ago he did).

This assumes Shardplate doesn't have special properties to allow easy maneuvering through water (it hasn't come up, to my knowledge). After all, it assists somewhat in preventing blindness from stormform lightning that isn't directly observable, and can presumably absorb that released energy. That said, it could be simply a use of Abrasion as you said. Edited March 24, 2015 by dvoraen

It has been assumed it was due to the most popular interpretation of Dalinar's vision. It us true though there could be other explanations. Perhaps someone could simply ask Brandon the question... He answered the question on Adolin's Blade order, so he most likely would answer the same question about his Plate. I have always liked the idea he needed a matching set to revive his Blade, hoping to see him fight with his Blade and the Plate he inherited from his mother....... but it seems unlikely at this point.
