A group of teenagers travel long distances to reach their great grandmother and convince her to stay asleep, or else she will destroy her home and everyone in it.
Chandrian Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) The Heroes of Olympus? Edit: 100th post! Edited July 5, 2016 by Chandrian

Chandrian Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 A teenage boy puts his boss in great danger after feeding cake to a woman at his internship. This is the first book, but you can name the whole series if you'd like.

Actually I only posted that answer, because I found describing Cruella as the great grandmother of the Dalmatians really hilarious. I knew it was wrong. Eh, my weird sense of humor.

Sunbird she/her Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 @Chandrian the only story I can think ofthat even remotely resembles your description is something that Dan Wells hasn't even published yet, and instead of cake starting the problems it's hand lotion.
Delightful Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I have no clue either. @Sunbird is that a book he's mentioned on writing excuses?
Chandrian Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 1. Said woman is a witch 2. Said internship is an apprenticeship. 3. Said cake contains questionable ingredients.
Sunbird she/her Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 @Delightful Possibly. I don't listen to Writing Excuses regularly, but the title is Extreme Makeover and it has a GoodReads page. He did a reading from it at a panel I attended at Salt Lake Comic Con in which we got to listen to characters freak out who'd been exposed to hand lotion that rewrites your DNA and turns you into someone else.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 A teenage boy feeds a questionable cake to a witch, which gets his 'master' in trouble? Uh, hm. Is it something by Terry Pratchett? 1

Burnt Spaghetti she/her Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Now that sounds suspiciously along the lines of 'The Seventh Son' which was based off The spooks books by Joseph Delaney
Sunbird she/her Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 @Burnt Spaghetti Now that you mention it, that TOTALLY fits.

You guessed it. Book one invloves him being tricked into feeding an imprisoned witch "cake" from her family. The cake contains ingredients of raw magical power, which allow her to escape and attempt to murder his master.
