Chaos he/him Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Hey guys, Just an FYI that I'll be doing some site maintenance tonight, around 11pm PST. Nothing user-facing, unfortunately, just software updates which means that our software will be down during that period. 3
Kobold King he/him Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Thanks for letting us know! I'll make sure to put up any long RP posts or the like by then. Also, about you doing site maintenance: People don't express their gratitude to you via partying pony pictures nearly often enough, in my opinion. Edited February 10, 2015 by Kobold King 3
Chaos he/him Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 Hah! You should see what we are doing in the background It's going to be very cool... 4
Mailliw73 he/him Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 What kind of changes are we talking about?
Chaos he/him Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 What kind of changes are we talking about? Tonight? Just security fixes and such, honestly.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Well, that's cool, right? I did notice today that when I quote someone who quoted someone else, it automatically makes a block quote, but it never did that before did it?

I can't speak for anyone else, but personally I'm not particularly happy with this setting. In long conversations, double, triple, or quadruple-repeated quotes become annoying very quickly. I prefer for quotes to not stack in this manner. In my opinion, at least, which may or may not be shared by other members. 1

Moogle Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I agree it, it does get very annoying fast with gigantic quote trains. I'm not having problems deleting quotes, but other people are. It may be best to revert it and call it a failed experiment. I'd also not be opposed to modifying the board's code to allow it to only nest two quotes, though as I recall IPB did some weird security lock to prevent their code from being modified.
Shlee Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Is there anyway to add a third quote button, one with each functionality? Sometimes it's useful, for WoBs and such that get nested and lost when you try to quote, but as has already been mentioned, this forum is infested with textwall spren and stacked quotes isn't helping. 1
Chaos he/him Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Unfortunately, it is mutually exclusive. I am disabling the option. EDIT: In theory, Moogle, it is possible to do so, but the editor is... not nice to alter. And soon we'll be on a newer version entirely, which will mean any work expended on it will not be useful Edited February 11, 2015 by Chaos 2
Chaos he/him Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Maintenance is done. Everything should be working fine. Let me know if there are any problems. Among other things, this fixes some IE11 issues with the editor, so that's a plus. 1
GreyPilgrim he/him Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) Since the maintenance, my notifications have been screwy. I receive them, but the count of new ones doesn't go down, even if I open the notifications or go to the indicated pages. Edit: Never mind, it seems fixed. Edited February 17, 2015 by GreyPilgrim
