AndrewStirlingMacDonald he/him Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Hello, all. My name is Andrew Stirling MacDonald. I am a writer, video producer, composer and actor living in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I've worked as a composer on a number of projects including Twenty Third Street Production's Exile, Perfection, Come On Down, Shindigital Productions' Into the Black (a Firefly fanfilm), and several professional theatre productions. I've worked worked as a producer for Twenty Third Street Productions for the past twelve years, and have been the showrunner for Exile, a post-apocalyptic web series. In real life, I can often be found writing unpublished novels, monopolizing pianos, extolling philosophies I understand little about and valiantly attempting to raise my three adorable children. I wear kilts exclusively and have a giant bushy beard. I stumbled upon Sanderson about a year and a half ago, after purchasing a kindle used from a friend and finding the Mistborn trilogy on it. Since then, I've read all of the major cosmere works (I still have yet to read "Sixth of the Dusk" and "Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell," as well as the Way of Kings stuff in the Altered Perceptions anthology, but they are all on my list). I also read Steelheart and Mitosis, and am looking forward to Firefight. My favorites so far have been The Stormlight Archives and Warbreaker, though I've enjoyed all of his novels. 1
AndrewStirlingMacDonald he/him Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 Just read through Sixth of the Dusk, Shadows for Silence and Hope of Elantris, which I believe means that I am officially caught-up, as far as the ol' Cosmere goes. I'm not planning to read Dragonsteel/Liar/White Sands/ etc until official, canonical versions are out... For now, at least.
AndrewStirlingMacDonald he/him Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 That's hard to say. When I first finished The Way of Kings I thought that it was my favorite fantasy novel I'd ever read. Then I read Warbreaker and thought that it was the second-best fantasy novel I'd ever read. Then Words of Radiance came out and I liked it even better than The Way of Kings... but weirdly I feel like I like Warbreaker better. Which makes no sense. Warbreaker > Words of Radiance > Way of Kings > Warbreaker. Weirdness. Anyway, I've only re-read Way of Kings so far (I reread it to prep myself for the release of WoR). I just started rereading the Mistborn trilogy today, so I'll probably work my way back through the whole 'Mere over the course of the next couple of months. 1
Shlee Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Warbreaker > Words of Radiance > Way of Kings > Warbreaker. This^ So much this. I did that exact same thing. Even read them in the same order. But then after re-reading WoR, it's back at the top of my favorites list. 1

vineyarddawg Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) Welcome! EDIT: Taking out something I said that would eventually lead to a spoiler for a book he hasn't read yet... Edited January 17, 2015 by vineyarddawg 1
