Divine0Flame he/him Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 In WoR (it was WoR, right?) a pair of ardents were messuring flame spren, and then they were bound in their current form. what would happen if Shallan tried to draw Syl in her sharditem form, or her in the form of a bunch of leaves? 2
Pathfinder Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 I have nothing to support this, but I believe it is because the flame spren do not have a "consciousness" like Syl, Pattern, and Ivory have. That is why Syl is so afraid of "dying". She loses the sense of self she gained by bonding with Kaladin. So without that, they are subject to whatever measurement in that moment is applied to them.

She runs into the problem that Syl's already being measured against Kaladin's ability to meet the Windrunner's code of honor?
RawToast225 he/him Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 (edited) Shallan isn't worthy to draw Syl. She's not cool enough. Edited December 17, 2014 by Arthur Dent
Divine0Flame he/him Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) I think that consciousness probably has something to do with it, or mabey it is perception and sense of identity. Syl has a strong sense of identity, and there for cannot be influenced by a drawing, and flamespren have basically no sense of identity, and that is why they are static when measured... I think that is where I was going with this. I really should go to cosmere theories with this next question, but I'm to lazy. What would happen is you drew a Returned slightly from their original form? Edited December 18, 2014 by Divine0flame

They are all jacked out, and very well...ahem....endowed, unlike they were in life.
Divine0Flame he/him Posted December 19, 2014 Author Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) I mean the returned is awake, and has been around for a year. would they change their form to match a drawing of them that they "know" is actuate, but is actually slightly off? Like their nose is shaped differently in the drawing than it actually is. Sorry for not clarifying. Edited December 19, 2014 by Divine0flame
