Rlain Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 So, this was already brought up by Guinever and Ryan about half a year back, but I'm wondering if there's more importance to the symbols for the metals that we were originally thinking about. So, we're already discussed the symbols forming an alphabet, and a numbering system, but has anyone considered a system wherein the metals would be tied to the land in a similar way to the Aons. It's just a passing thought, but I'm interested to see if anyone else has thought about the possibility. It is worth noting that Elendel is divided into Octants that seem to lie in ways that most of the symbols could be traced out by city lines. In addition, has anyone attempted to compare the symbols of alloy metals with their base metals and find a pattern. I'm attempting it, but not really coming to any sound conclusions.
Quantum Toast he/him Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 As far as I know, the only pattern anyone's noticed is that the position of the dot indicates whether it's a Pulling metal (outside the symbol) or Pushing alloy (inside the symbol).
Lady_Yasha she/her Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 We were never told how the Derethi derived their magic. Maybe it ties into their culture but I don't know. The Aonic symbols of Elantris have a different design to the Metallic Arts.
