Commander Tonnal stood at attention, awaiting the arrival of the Train.

The Train—enjoying no other name past that simplicity—carried the next load of soldiers to the front. It seems shameful to call this a battlefront. Indeed, the ground upon which Tonnal stood was once a school. It was torn apart by the Inquisitors of Fear.

One by one, soldiers filed out of the Train, a dazed look on some of their faces. Tonnal could practically smell the fear on them… he released a wave of support, drinking water to soothe the headache it had brought on. The faces of the soldiers visibly changed.

It was good, for fear was a dangerous object in this land.

Tonnal led the soldiers to their pitiful camp, briefing them shortly.

Next, he pulled aside a small squad—the spec ops, a striking team preselected by his higher-ups that would either die fastest or hit hardest. He would give an in-depth briefing to them soon.

The commander frowned briefly—they had run out of water quickly. He wouldn’t be able to refill his supply until the next set of trucks came down from the reserves. The fact was slightly worrying, as they needed the water for other purposes, but it shouldn’t take long.

Alright! Lemme grab the pings, I’ll put em with your characters. Sorry it took so long.

Yall will be part of this spec ops team, having recently arrived, without much information, from the Train.

Spoiler

@Stardust

Takil, a Pugnator that excels in specifically knife fighting. He was dragged into the battle through the draft, and, after doing hard labor for a while, grew proficient enough in his weapon to do that instead. He finds any and all people suspicious, and is hard to please. But, if you can find yourself on his good side, you will never have a more loyal friend.

@Through the Living Hope

Iris Sixsmith is an orphan who makes a living by hustling in the streets and is willing to harm or even kill others to protect her own safety and interests. She is stubborn and wary of anyone new, staying quiet and analyzing, calculating her best move.

@Ascended Grubberfly

Chen is an orphaned teenage boy. He works in a factory, and has watched many of his fellow workers die in horrific accidents as he is slowly choked by the ash.

He figures death by monster is better than those factory machines. He might even be fed well for a while.

@ParaTulip

Then I so wanna roll with a Medenom whose name is Alder Burroughs. Has a side hussle of diluting and selling pain relieving meds to get food, so he looks only as starved as a normal opiate addict and not one living in a famine.

Oh, hey! This started!

Now I have to go and remember what my character was...

I'll edit this and rp once i find that

Chen stepped from the Train, half worried that this might be a convoluted scheme to suppress rumors about safety violations. He glanced left and right rapidly, feeling his own anxiety feed on that of those around him.

Then his eyes fell on the soldier waiting for them. Instantly, Chen felt his fears wash away, and he stood up straighter.

Maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't have to fear.

Takil scowled as he looked at the soldier in front of him. He had been selected for something. What that something was, he wasn't sure.

Fidgeting with the knife he always had in his hand, he examined the other people that were there. Interesting. They needed something from these people. And he was going to find out what.

Iris glanced around. She wasn’t sure how she got here, or who any of these other people were. She remained ready, a coiled wire ready to spring.

Chen glanced around, eager to meet companions, until he saw someone with a knife! Just messing with it in the middle of the crowd!

He stopped in shock, but that just made someone slam into him. He was at the mercy of the crowd as they sent him tumbling. He reached out, searching for something to stabilize him.

His hand landed on the shoulder of someone in the crowd. He finally found his footing, apology already half out his lips for the inconvenience. His helper turned around, intensity flaring in her eyes.

She promptly decked him in the face.

Going forward, don’t move for another person’s character. That’s godmodding, and unless you get permission first it’s frowned upon
