Epic RPG (How not to survive the end of the Calamity)

Simple, create a character, the character can be an Epic, one of the

Reckoners, or just a random dude, this takes place in Newcago shortly

after the events of the book Calamity, All you have to do is create your

character (no specific character sheet, just go with whatever is

comfortable), give them a name, a backstory (and if they are an Epic a power

and a weakness), put that in your first post, and just roll with it,

anything can and probably will happen. If you have any questions PM me,

and you can feel free to use a non-original character, just

mold them to fit the Reckoners style thing, but original characters preferred.

My character

Spoiler

Name: Vex

Appearance: A man seemingly in his late teens, 5’11, typically wears a t-shirt and jeans, dark brown hair, hazel eyes.

Epic ability: can manipulate matter on the atomic level

Epic vulnerability, things that can think (human, dog, cat, mice, insect etc.) if he tries to manipulate the matter of anything or is touched by anything that can think his Epic abilities are canceled for a few minutes (when he uses his Epic abilities on himself his abilities aren’t canceled)

Backstory:

Vex was never good with people, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't understand them, and overall just didn't like them. When Calamity appeared he was about eighteen years old, he gained his powers and at first they seemed like a blessing, but the more he used them the more It started to take over, that looming evilness. Eventually he figured out his weakness, he was walking through Newcago, when his friend came up to him, they high fives, and he blacked out. When he came to, he saw his friend's dead body and immediately started crying, then he locked himself away, eventually he came out changed, he is not always the same man, he hasn't been since that day, the day he called Enlightenment.

Edit: He is read in on a lot of Epics, meaning he knows their powers and weaknesses, but most Epics are also well read in on him, so it kinda balances out, but it keeps people on their toes.

I’d love to do this. Will post a character later.

Can you extrapolate on Vex’s power?

Edit: Got mine.

Spoiler

Epic name: Immensity.

Powers: Firing beams that make anything they hit WAY heavier, collapsing it. Also automatically weighs down any nearby threat in a similar manner, making him a High Epic.

He’s a portly, middle aged man who worked business before Calamity. He was always dark at heart, and it is not untruthful to say that the strength his powers gave, rather than the mental changes, affected his behavior more. He spent the last decade killing casually and living in opulence, and his reaction to Calamity’s fall is anger that this should be expected to change. He blames the Reckoners and came to Newcago to complain. Violently.

His Weakness is slang.

I feel like it is explained well enough in my introduction of him

You just said ‘manipulates matter on an atomic level’. Is that transmutation, altered chemical reactions, nuclear activity, what?

(btw, I put my guy in my first post)

Fair enough, this includes a number of things, most notably transmutation, but he can also alter the density of objects, now this does come with some limitations, but I don't have time to get into those.

Edit: I realized I should probably just get this over with and started, so here it goes.

Vex

As he walked down the metal streets of Newcago, he saw the people, no longer living in fear, they were protected by the Steelslayer and the Reckoners, what need have they for fear. They should fear because Epics still live, even though some have changed, others have not. Yet it still felt good to see the people loosen up, if even for just a moment. But, Vex couldn't get distracted, he had work to do.
