Ironwill2112 he/him Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I posted a topic like this about Wind and Truth and I found it fascinating. So here I am again looking for your thoughts! I absolutely adored this book and all the knew information we get on the nature of Investiture. I don't think this book was as controversial as WaT, but you tell me! Did you like The Sunlit Man?
Frustration Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago This one was interesting for me. I both loved and hated TSM. As a standalone book I think it was terrible, as while the plot was interesting the character and emotional beats felt really flat. As a part of the cosmere it was amazing and I loved it, as it revealed so much about how investiture works and how to look at the cosmere. I've honestly decided to just think of it as a canonized WoB rather than a book unto itself. 3
+Child of Hodor Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago It's my least favorite of the Cosmere secret projects. One big chase without many memorable characters except Nomad and Aux. The banter between Nomad and Aux was good. Brandon is good at coming up with those types of pairings. I got a little tired of the constant Breath Equivalent Units counting. The world building is interesting. Brandon having to dance around all the future book spoilers was annoying. 1
Ink and Embers Any pronouns Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I did not enjoy the Sunlit Man, largely because characterisation is very important to me when I read books and I felt like TSM lacked this a bit. Nomad seems like an interesting character to me, but personally I don't feel like I know enough about him to be Invested (pun intended) in his storyline, especially not enough for him to have a standalone book. I also wish Elegy in particular was developed more; I think there's a very interesting debate to be had in "how much can you change before who you were is considered dead" that could've been explored more
Nitpicking Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Agreeing with the above, but I enjoyed it more than the other posters. It's a caper story, going back to Final Empire roots. Brandon loves capers. The set piece fights were fun to read. Too packed with lore drops for my taste. Probably third best of the Special Projects, after Tress and Emberdark.
