They stand up and shake off the powder, examining the commission. “No wonder they scrambled it. Who ordered this? Actually, I don’t want to know. Someone gutsy can have this one, I’ll take the robbery job. Rusting gangs have it coming.” Iris overhears the talk about scramblers. "Oh, now that sounds interesting. I'll take it!" Word had gotten out, apparently, about their strange abilities, though the extent of the abilities was not clear. A person of interest in an ongoing investigation was being questioned by governance. It was their job to find the person and evacuate them before they revealed incriminating information. The sender was unknown, but there was enough information to carry out the commission. A sum, the largest one, was promised. Reveal hidden contents @Through The Living Grass @Xiahida @Through the Living Mippo Just so y’all know! Spoiler ^^^^^^ <— the full commission The magic you have available to you: Any storage space is something you can link to your own pocket dimension. The opening stays the same size, but you can put anything that fits into the opening into the space. (IE a really long but thin pole) In this space, objects do not interact with each other, and can be retrieved independently. You must actively retrieve them, they won’t just fall out, and another person cannot pull them out. To your knowledge. Thats the basics. When a storage container come into contact with Dullmetal, it’s sealed for the duration of the contact. Nothing in or out. supposedly I encourage y’all to be creative with it!

___ He/Him Posted March 21 Posted March 21 4 minutes ago, Through The Living Coder said: Quote Ok so basically it's like a reckoners/mistborn era 2 style world where very rarely people have "skills", magical abilities, and the main one the story centers on is Harold. He can turn any container into a pocket dimension. The characters are his hired mercenaries, given commissions to carry out jobs. Everyone's in the waiting room of Harold's Toppers, his cover business.
CoderDrag0n8 He/They Posted March 21 Posted March 21 On 3/18/2026 at 4:58 PM, Through the Living Wrath said: Harold, a man of graying hair and bent stature, had a skill that he considered quite unique. Some would call it mundane. Others would call it groundbreaking. Others still may call it… witchcraft. Harold thought of it as unique. But if others discovered it… well, they may try to kill him. It was nothing like the King’s Plague-fist, or the Queen’s Pestilence, no where near their sheer power. But it threatened to overthrow the very thing they represented. And so, Harold kept low. Underground, even, though the thought distressed him. Whispers called him the Master of Thrall, a shadowy arbitrator whose hand was concealed by wealth. He wasn’t particularly wealthy, and he didn’t like the name they gave him. So… his company, completely legitimate, was named Harold’s Toppers. An old-fashioned name, for an old man. He has no aspiration for power. He did not wish to overthrow the government. No, he only wishes to deliver the promises he makes to clients, and deliver with efficiency. And he did so, which is why the clients came back to him, day after day. Harold entered his small room on the corner of the street, adjusting the sign behind the window before placing a stack of papers—commissions—neatly onto the table in the employee only section and switching the electric lights outside his door on. He was open for business! Intro: Reveal hidden contents Alright! This will be a more serious Roleplay, though it is a mite whimsy. I’ll wait for a bit to progress the story so people can join and establish connections among eachother. Y’all’ll be members of this company, which is a bunch of hired mercenaries that temporarily borrow Harold’s magical “skill” in order to act. This skill is the ability to create pockets dimensions—things like Mary Poppin’s bag n stuff. However, this works slightly different—you must mentally acknowledge which item you want to take out to retrieve it, or it doesn’t come out. So it doesn’t spill, you can quickly retrieve the items you need, etc. Harold’s preferred vessel for this purpose is a hat. Reach into the top hat, get a bunny! That sort of thing. It’s also why his company is called the Toppers. The amount of “skilled” or magical peeps in the world is a very small number. Usually, other people cannot lend their power to other people, but Harold can. The significant ones are the tyrant magistrates of the government, the King and Queen, as well as the Judge and the Executioner, who carry out the King and Queen’s will. However, this is a gunpowder age civilization, which has like… very basic electricity. Not computers yet. Character: Hide contents Make someone who knows and is trusted by Harold, who understands his power and keeps it secret. Hired mercenaries. They do not have power for themselves. anyways gtg Nector Confictor walked into the waiting room and sat down. "Are there any commissions ready?"

On 3/19/2026 at 4:05 PM, Through the Living Wrath said: Harold nods, waving a hand towards the stack she’d already found. “Good morning.” He ignored the effort to discover a power. The smuggling job was a guard detail over explosive materials, smuggled into the capital. Harry grins. “Hey Shaun.” He frowned, reaching into a pocket and carefully pulling a long blade—in its sheath. It was heavily ornamented. ”I thought you might like this souvenir I’d received from our last commission. They wanted me to give it to you.” Harold looked up, surprised. “Oh! Yes, sorry. Yes, a minor Scrambler-type is working with that specific commission. High level commission, then. I’ll need to fetch a Dull-brush from the back.” Reveal hidden contents Hehehe major scrambler types are a bit different… Dullbrush negates skills. In Harry’s case, it’s temporary. Reveal hidden contents Pings and quotation boxes don’t do well together @Through the Living Ink The commissions were as such (more details provided upon yall choosing one): 1. The smuggling commission, a hefty sum given to help transport explosive goods through the Marsh of Souls and into the capital. 2. ???: The scrambled commissions being read by Cris (these turned out to be a hostage extraction) 3. Assassination: Murder an important figure in the government and frame another criminal organization for the action. Another hefty sum. 4. Thievery: Assist in breaking into the stash of another Underground organization. A portion of the money recovered is given to the Toppers. 5. Governor of the Under District needs help to ensure that some blackmail doesn’t spread. He will offer details upon meeting with him. Harold stepped to the back of the room, pulling a Dullbrush from a drawer and tossing it to Cris. Edited March 21 by Through the Living Wrath
