Born of Mist He/Him Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I have never been good with words, so I'm going to get straight to the point. I think that Brandon is setting up Shallan and Adolin to ascend to Odium and Honor respectively. The reason I think this is I was listening to some stormlight audiobooks and heard something along the lines of (I think), "emotion was boiling within her", (talking about Shallan). So I thought, "that sounds a lot like when Taravangeon (I can't spell) ascended to odium. Then I started hearing it in other books as well. And with how Adolin's storyline went in WaT I think Shallan and Adolin are going to ascend to Honor and Odium. 1

This could be said about any character, since Odium represents strong emotion, which is a universal part of the human experience—even otherwise stoic characters, like Jasnah, have moments where they experience said emotions. So, no, I don't think that there is any particular reason why Shallan should take up Odium, compared to, say, Kaladin.
Nitpicking Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Adolin is definitely being set up for some big role. I suspect (it's just suspicion based on vibes) that she'll remain human(-ish) to the end of the Cosmere, and witness the final battle, whatever it is.

However, if we're going off of how many times it says their feeling strong emotions, how many times is it said? Also why Kaladin?
