She let him see it.

"It feels exactly the same."

"Could it be? No, you're too young and inexperienced."

“Really?” Huh?

"Do you want to switch swords?"

"You must be extraordinarily talented."

“I don’t think so, I’m just confused why that happened.”

"I don't think anything happened, you're just imagining things."

He handed the sword back; it still felt light. "Get ready."

She did.

"Attack him first. Don't let him put you on the defensive."

She struck.

Keir looked surprised but drops into defensive stance and blocks

She kept up the offensive, trying to hold her stance as much as she could.

You step forward. Strike, strike. Step to the inside. Strike, parry, strike. The movements flow from one to the next.

Keir defends, getting in a counter strike here and there but not being able to build any offensive momentum.

Suddenly the momentum shifts, you aren't really able to comprehend how, but Keir is striking with more speed and agility and then you are on the defensive. Backing up slowly.

Your mind gets lost in the ebb and flow of the duel, and before you know it a crowd has formed, watching the legendary duel.

You hardly notice them. Too focused on yourself, your blade, and your opponent.

You have a wicked approach going, strike after strike, almost as if you wielded two blades rather than just one. Keir trips backwards and falls to the sand. You hover your blade over his neck, ready to skewer him he starts to get up but notices the blade and freezes.

She noticed, gasping slightly, and pulled back. “I… I got carried away, didn’t I… Sorry.”

She looked around, extremely bewildered and confused. Her eyes eventually went back to Keir, hoping for answers.

He got to his feet. "That was some feat."

“I… I don’t know how I did that, I swear.”

"It is certainly impressive at beating me in a duel but not impossible."

"Yes you do hold it. The mark of a blademaster. Extraordinary for you to have developed it so young."

“So.. you’re not mad or anything?”

Huh? What does that mean?

"Back in my time those who had such an intricate bond with a weapon, and could use it with such skill would bear a mark upon their mind that signifies connection and oneness."

Bond with a weapon…

She looked at the sword, hand on the flat of the blade.

So.. this specific one? Or all?

"Every similar weapon."

She glanced up at the crowd and whispered, “I don’t think I like that a crowd gathered.”

"It doesn't happen often, it's a good thing you won. They'll never let me live it down now."
