Jackson barely spared a glance over his shoulder at the man before disappearing into the woods. He kept running for a time, then stopped. He suspected that one he would have to watch out for more than the others. He enjoyed violence. He tied the bag of vials to his belt and began examining them to see what they were.

He was able to see that there was no river nearby before the branch began to creak. The tree was rotting.

He scrambled back down as quickly as he could and stood there, shaking slightly. He would need to be more careful in the future. That had been a careless mistake that could cost him.
