Talking to the dead

one thing I found interesting is that starling said the dragon dead won't talk to you no matter how you try to get their attention isles of the emberdark 51. on the other hand hoid said the ancient dead so far more clearly if you new how to get them to talk to you wind and truth 147.

Maybe the ability to communicate with the dead dragons involves some magic that dragons don’t typically know, or don’t have access to (e.g., being warped by a dawnshard). Hoid isn’t the only ancient cosmere member to hide things from others (Vasher).

I could also see Hoid just being annoying enough that he can convince the dead dragons to talk to him.

Hoid does think that there's a trick to getting dead dragons to talk at the end of WaT.
