Hi! I'm first of the minute of the day, and I'm new to this social media thing. My favourite planet is first of the sun and I've read all the cosmere and cytoverse books. Still looking for the Rythmatist though.

If anyone could explain the unwritten rules of this place that would be great

Welcome. Thanks for letting us know what you have read in the Intro Post.

Please consider checking out the Sharder FAQ for some useful forum info and tips.  Not sure about unwritten rules, but the Written Rules can be found here.
Let us know if you have questions.

Okay, the first unwritten rule is that no one can speak of the Unwritten Rules.

The second unwritten rule is that you must say “have a nice day” every time you play a 7.

The third unwritten rule is that Jacks are wild cards.

The fourth unwritten rule is that 8s are reverse cards.

The fifth unwritten rule is that Aces are skips.

Spoiler

What exactly do you mean by unwritten rules? Usually it’s pretty chill here. Just - no spoilers in the wrong places (i.e., you’re in a Mistborn thread, and you say something about the conclusion to a Stormlight book without placing it in a spoiler box like this one. When you do have a spoiler box, you’ll need to label the spoiler with what book you are spoiling.)

Other than that, be a decent sort - online debates caaaan seem fun, but they can get out of control.

The social convention basically. How long after a post was made is it acceptable to respond? what topics are a bad idea to bring up (moash?)

Stuff like that

It’s acceptable to respond immediately!

Like!

Immediately!

(Some of the threads go really fast and it scares me - but that’s just the community section.)

Bad topics to bring up:

Liking Moash

Good topics to bring up:

Hating Moash.

What about years later?

Okay okay

I think they say

umm

4-6 months is the limit (@Treamayneam I correct?). But they do say that you should just make a new thread - where you could link the thread that you would be replying to.

Like, thread A has no activity for months, but you reeeally wanna talk about it.

So you make thread B

”I had some comments about a theory I saw, on this thread: 17thshard.thread.A.com”

Ya know?

Discussed in the  SHARDER FAQ and the linked Forum Policies. Some threads are meant to continue (even after a long absence) - but most (especially book threads) it is preferred to start a new thread and either quote or link the previous threads. Sherma Main's technique is one acceptable method.

You are allowed to express whatever view of Moash you want. But with topics like that (and a few others) - Forum search is your friend. Starting the 23rd moash thread this year will not gain you much sympathy - no matter what your opinion is. The Cosmere Q&A is robust anddesigned to easily find common questions that have been answered previously (if once or dozens of times). In fact, the forum search system is rather robust (and, of course, has a whole section of the SHARDER FAQ dedicated to teaching how to use it).

Hope that helps
