Lazar inspected the others more carefully.

They don't look the type, but you can never tell.

"It's not common to find so many people all in the same place here," he said suspiciously.

Before I meddle with everyone, did you have a plot in mind?

there isn't really a plot in my mind, aside from exploring the doors.

Lazar approaches the gnome.

"Ah, hello. I suppose you would come to this section, what with all these people."

He glances at the door he came from again and, seemingly finding what he saw sufficient, speaks.

Better safe than sorry.

"I request that you would comply to the statute of nondisclosure regarding my presence here."

"So we just go anywhere? Sweet! I could probably find, like, a door to treasure or something!"

“Well, you have to find it first.”

A door swung open. It was a large, antique-looking door made of polished cherry wood in a traditional style. The handle was arched and bronze, streaks visible on it from prior use. The door creaked as it opened, sunlight flooding in through the frame, illuminating the area beyond briefly. The sunlight glinted off of other doors, and for a moment, one could see a forest lying beyond. The sunlight brightened the area, blocked only by a man as he stepped through the doorway.

The man looked to be in his late twenties, with olive skin and black hair combed to the side. He was wearing black pants and a button down shirt with a silver wristwatch that shined in the pooling light. A brown coat, long at the waist, was over this and his brown eyes flashed as he turned.

With a swift gesture, the man closed the door behind him. His breathing was hurried, but not fast enough for him to have been running. Slowly he turned around, taking in his surroundings. Surprise flashed across the man's face as he notised the others standing there.

“Hello, what’s your name?”

Nope

KDJ feels a strange pulsing from a door. His eyes fill with melancholy. He realizes that the door will not stay there long. He runs through the maze of doors. Eventually he reaches a door and frantically pushes a piece of his magic power through. The door disappears, and he slumps down. “So close…” he whispers.

Aeryn comes to a door that looks more like a tree trunk than a door. She pauses, takes a deep breath, then steps through—

—into an open forest. A tangle of roots from a tree pokes up from the ground, and within two children—one a boy, blond with deep brown eyes, around eight or nine; the other a girl, hair dark and matted, eyes shocking green, maybe four at most. They huddle down, hiding from something. Shouts can be heard in the distance, quickly drawing closer. Then the baying of dogs. A bunch of men on horseback crest a hill, following several dogs who head straight for the roots.

The men call the dogs back, then two dismount and shove aside the leaves partially covering the roots. They reach in, hauling out the children. The boy screams for help, but the girl remains silent, shaking and wide-eyed. The two are thrown over a couple horses and carried off.

The scene shifts. The same girl, about ten years older by her appearance, huddles in the back corner of a dead-end alleyway. Her hair is short and ragged, her clothing smudged and tattered. At the opening of the alleyway, a group of similar-looking street kids share a loaf of bread that one of them brags of having stolen. Hungry, the girl begins to crawl forward, but stops when one of them looks at her and puts his hand to a makeshift knife at his belt. She falls back against the wall, and a flickering whote blur surrounds her.

Time passes.

At last, the blur fades and the girl opens her eyes. It is night, and the urchins are sleeping. The girl's eyes harden. She creeps forward.

The scene jumps again. Back to the forest. The girl, now in her late teens, crouches in the underbrush, dressed in dark brown and green. She clutches a knife in each hand, and wears several more strapped around her. Her face is hardened and emotionless. Only her eyes show a hint of emotion. Rage.

A group of horses crosses into view. The walk slowly, carefully. Suddenly, a horse screams. Then another, and a third. Their legs have been caught in steel traps. They fall, pinning their riders, as the others panic and begin to run away, their riders cursing. The woman stands up and calmly walks forward, scanning the three who have fallen. She kills the first two with a quick knife to the chest, then comes to the third, holding a knife to his throat.

"Where is he?" She snarls.

Moments later, she walks away, hands red and eyes alight with an emotion she has not felt in a long time.

Hope.

Aeryn stumbles back out of the door, barely breathing. Her eyes glisten, and she sits down on the floor.

"People being rude, breaking the no-excessive-violence rule, sharks, the weird moss expanding on Door 1799643-c, kittens, puppies, any baby animals, any baby sentients, any baby gods, the letter 42, (long screeching noise), laser sharks, persnickety Nameless Ends, the Axe of Sundering, The Axe of Rendering, CAD architects, insane Archons, quantum goats, that one camel named Dave, and just generally making sure The Door-Way is traversable by sentients without fear of immediate death." he let down a hand that for a moment had had far too many fingers.

"Most of those are just people that were banned, though"

Assuming you are following KDJ

KDJ walks throughout the maze of doors until finally reaching a door that seems to of appeared out of nowhere. He opens it, and the door, which is a subway door, seems to lead into a subway car. However, out the window, you see stars like you would if you were floating in space.
