Are you using arcane magic or sacred magic to do this.

Spoiler

This would be Arcane Magic. All his Sacred Magic would be of the support variety, mostly. Healing, curse-breaking, stuff like that. Though, he’s not very experienced with such things. (Maybe his patron would somewhat enhance plant-based Elementalism? Not really a focus, though.)

In order to properly simulate progression, Reginn’s Arcane Magic is currently rather limited. Elementalism of earth and plant variety, reinforcement Imbuement, maybe some standard little wizard staples like magic armor Projection, or magic darts.

His book would contain more, but not any super high-level stuff he may have known in the past. The book was a measure taken too late. Reginn has forgotten much more than he currently knows. Perhaps, with time and recall, he could recover his lost potential.

A man runs up to you, "Adventures, I assume? Good that you've arrived."

A small amount of dirt crumbles from Reginn’s mudball, revealing two lenses of faded pink, like fallen flower petals. His voice is muffled by dirt. “Where’s your mayor or whoever? I need a map of your sewer system.”

"You're looking at him."

"What's up with these rats?"

"No idea. They all started appear a few months back. No matter how many we try to kill there's always more."

"Everywhere. All in one night, rat sitings multiplied a thousand fold"

More dirt crumbles away. Reginn’s arm sticks through, hand open. “Map.”

The man grabs a scroll from his bag, and hands it to hilda, who looks more dignified.
"Thanks Honey." She says, immolating the rats inside her ward.

Reginn grumbles his annoyance, retracting his arm and retreating into the darkness of his makeshift defense.

A few moments pass, and two more eye holes appear. Pink glass stares directly at Hilda. “Where’s the most likely spot for a colony?”

“Would you be so kind as to bring me to them?”

@Argenti

"Can't bring them to you. Risk Spreadin' the disease."

"Few months back. Don't remember the exact date."

She hands it to him. "Don't wreck it."

Galalth nodded. "Any places they haven't reached?"

"Some of the noble's manors are sealed."

A garbled noise follows as he takes the map. ‘Thankye,’ perhaps.

Reginn would begin a thorough inspection of the sewer’s features. Entrances, its pathways, any quiet alcoves or open areas and crossroads which might serve as dwelling for a large amount of rats. Or a person.

Soon, he would peer outside towards the mayor. “What can you tell me about rat operations? Areas of especially common sighting, favored food stores, any entrances to the sewer you’ve sealed.”

"They're common in the streets- as you just saw. They're everywhere- we haven't bothered to seal the sewers, because they come out everywhere. We've had rat issues before.... but nothing like this."

"Not really. The guards refuse to go down there."

"Correct! Here are some nose plugs." He pulls out a pile of cloths pins.

The mayor walks over to a manhole, motions for a crowbar and pries it open.

The smell hits you before it's fully open.

At last, Reginn’s earthen defense crumbles to dust and blew away in gentle breeze. He himself was absolutely spotless, staring down at a hastily annotated map.

”There are many entrances available to us, though it is a mystery as to which is most suitable, what with the lack of useful information.”

His head swivels towards the mayor. Perfectly level, like an owl. “Is there any credit to these apparent rumors of a scientist tampering with your water supply?”

Teshan follows silently, giving entrance a short glance before looking at the mayor.

“I’ll be back.”

He walks in.
